(ooc) 2nd Memory: Sight/Smell

Jun 16, 2009 11:24

The following scene is taken from Episode 10: Stakeout.

It was a party.

The white gazebo was decked out in white and pink balloons, with a giant pink banner hanging in the middle. Happy Birthday ..... The name of the person was fuzzy, in a way Ghost was now all too familiar with. Another name denied to him by the sphere. Just underneath the banner was a table piled high with presents and next to it a table with cupcakes. He could smell their sweet scent, overlaid with the fragrance of freshly cut grass and flowers.

But what really freaked him out about the scene was the dozen or so people surrounding him, all chattering away silently, as though someone had pressed mute on a video. Not all of the faces were human either--a strange blue fish faced creature with giant red eyes walked causally by in a beige uniform next to a toad-like creature, also dressed in the same uniform. He caught sight of Bridge, dressed in a long sleeved white shirt, black gloves and neon green tie, chatting animatedly with a ....cat woman dressed in a white and gray tunic. Ghost wasn't surprised to see that Spike stood a few steps away from him, dressed in a blue uniform (Blue?! What?!) with a silver doghead badge and a smaller pin with the letters SPD. He really did look every bit the cop, even if his jacket was unbuttoned and he was (gasp!) smiling as he poured himself a drink.

Another taller blue ...alien?...caught his eye but his body refused his urges to turn back around and look at him properly. All he saw were blue scales, black dreads and a dog like nose...then he was walking, past a very familiar looking brown haired girl dressed in yellow--he felt his heart slam into his chest when he saw her, the same sort of instant reaction he'd had to Bridge and Spike when they'd first met. He kept wanting to twist his body, to soak up everything, but he had no sensation. It was as if he were watching a silent home movie with random smell-o-vision.

He walked up to another girl, a blond dressed in a frilly green and pink top. He knew this girl too. She was someone important to him, as important as Spike and Bridge. By the look of intense happiness in her bright blue eyes he knew she was the birthday girl even before he saw his own hands lift up a pink frosted cupcake, decorated with a white flower and a single lit candle. She beamed at him and responded to something he said with a shy smile. She was beautiful, with tumbling blond curls, carefully arranged around a pink flower in her hair and soft pink lips. She also smelled wonderful, like tasteful, expensive perfume.

Was she--who was she?

He silently watched her turn around and take the cupcake he'd given her and carefully divide it in two on the table next to them. The rich aroma of freshly baked cupcake hit him, along with the lighter smell of wax as she added candles to each half. She lit them and handed him one. Why? Was it his birthday too? She smiled at him and whatever she said made him turn and look shyly down at his shoes before looking back up.

The world slowly faded away as he continued to stare into her eyes.
