I'm not sure who (if any) of you all this applies to (much less whether you already knew), but here it is:

If you are registered to vote in California as 'Independent' (not registered with any party, also known as 'Declines to State') you can vote in the Democratic Primary, but you will need to specifically request a Democratic Primary ballot when you arrive at the polls. (This information is also available in the Voter Information Guide pamphlet you received a few weeks ago.) You do not have the ability to vote in the Republican Primary, however.
