Crossing the Streams

This has been a pretty good, long weekend.

On Saturday, I got the boys together to go get fitted with suits. It is crazy to think about, but I believe this was the first time they actually met each other in person - one being a core member of the Crew since middle school, and the other a critical portion of the Ka-tet that helped me get through college. The two of them are why I dislike having to decide on "best friend," singular.

At first I was a little nervous about the introductions, simply because, well... crossing the streams, you know? But I like both of them for reasons - many of which are the same reasons - so I wasn't that worried. Plus, for some reason, I kinda forgot that they are both teachers, which provides a pretty good bonding conversation. So, basically, everything was fantastic, and we're going to be dapper as fuck when the Big Day (or any day, really) comes around.

Yesterday, we met with officiant to nail down some of the details of the ceremony. More of the broad ideas than detail details, actually. We're going with time capsule-esque letters instead of a guest book, so I'm kinda looking forward to the sort of nonsense we'll be reading down the road. Yesterday also involved us hanging with one of Jess's friends and trying some of the various cocktail options. My signature drink was just going to be Maker's Mark bourbon neat, because I'm all that is Man. However, apparently some Ricky guy put lime juice and club soda in with some bourbon and it is fantastic. So if you want to be drinking my signature, better get yourself a designated driver. And it ain't going to be me, I tell you hwat.

There are still a lot of little (and some not-so little) tasks to go over between now and May, but I feel good about things. The particular decision to marry Jess has never, at any point, been in question. If you look through the earliest writing in this journal, you will see I often talked about finding the Companion. Well, I did. And I'm marrying the shit outta her in less than 90 days.
