Update and New!Shiny! Idea: Breeders

Things have finally settled down on this end, or settled down as much as they're going to. School's coming along nicely and I think that I might actually have no problems meeting my deadline. Querying is coming along but it's one of those things where there is no meter of "yes, I'm making progress" to measure by. Now, with all that and the traveling, you'd think I have enough stress without adding to it, yes? Apparently not.

If you've been following closely (especially on Twitter), you may have noticed that my "Muse" has been rather quiet in the last five (ish) weeks. I finished QoS and then there were no new ideas ready to spring into book form. I wrote two first chapters for books that weren't ready and kind of decided to focus on editing and school and whatnot.

It was then that the idea hit me. It was something I'd considered way back when I wrote TSO but I didn't feel comfortable writing it and it didn't particularly fit with where TSO was going. So I set it aside and forgot about it. Until now. And then I had a premise (which was new). But I figured I'm make some notes and leave it. THEN a first sentence showed up. So I wrote it down quickly and, HOLY CRAP, a heroine showed up with a name and background and she was determined to have her story told.

Now, I've been using SuperNotecard for most of my notes and whatnot for the last few books. I liked it, although the headache of cross-checking and not being able to have maps drove me crazy. But, since I'm borrowing computers at the moment, it's not an option. So I have my trusty notebook and I've been using post-it notes for minor stuff. I LOVE IT.

I love how I can make a map, and have an ever-changing key without a headache. I love how I can change the members of my "groups" without scribbling them out and wasting a full page. Basically it's just working.

And the WIP (tentatively titled Breeders - which ALSO popped into my head with the first sentence) is coming along at an amazing rate. Part of that is the overload of coffee that I'm drinking but most of it is the story. It's like it's been percolating in my brain for a year and a half and now it's springing, nearly fully completed, onto the page.
