I'm no Heidi but I love it...

I've had the best weekend out of London. Jonquil's plans were fantastic. I left work on Friday and met up with Bex at St Pancras - almost didn't get there on time cos the buses didn't come, and I actually took a cab - something I never do.

We got to Leicester pretty early and went to her dad's place to spend the night. Everyone was tired so we went to bed early after some wine. Had an amazing fry up on Saturday morning with fresh local produce- I've never had tastier mushrooms. Jonquil introduced us to her horse Tex and I took to him immediately (pictures will be up in Facebook). He was so nice to touch and I couldn't keep my hands off him, so I ended up hugging the horse a lot.

We also picked raspberries in her dad's garden - He had broad beans, mangetout, blackcurrants, tomatoes on vine and stuff...Bex ate the raspberries straight from the plant... I couldn't do that cos I have OCD....

Went to her mum's place to spend the afternoon at the farm and Jonquil gave me my first driving lesson in her Land Rover. It was an old skool, beat up, and very hard to drive one. I'm pretty sure I know how to drive now, cos she was so patient... Went around the farm to see the animals and saw very cute calves...all I could think about was my boots that were made from baby calf leather....so soft...

Bex wanted to catch a piglet, but there were only pigs, so she tried to catch chickens...We all wimp out at the last minute cos it seems like a scary thought. Jonqs, the farm girl that she is, picks them up quite easily...

Chilled out at the brook in the farm for a while...went back out to the village to get some ingredients and headed back to her mum's place to make dinner. Bex requested my spinach souffle and Jonqs made hamburgers - I love her mum's kitchen. I would so love to have an AGA if I can bring it back to Singapore. I should look into it....

I had been looking forward to sunday cos I know her mum makes a wicked roast. Sunday lunch is an institution in the UK, more so in the countryside, and especially so when you have a farm. We had roast beef, roast potatoes with fresh herbs, steamed veg, Yorkshire pudding, amazing gravy...and a mixed fruit crumble for dessert - No pictures of those cos I was too busy eating.

All three of us were too stuffed, so Jonqs suggested going for a walk to see where the Battle of Bosworth took place. Walked all around the reserve until the food got digested...went back to her dad's and made Smarties cookies...ate them too...

It was too decadent andnwe left Jonquil feeling like we could be sick at any minute on the train back to London. We didn't get to camp cos the weather wasn't too good, but we've been invited back to have another go.
