all the chocolates in the world

the closest i got to national day festivities
watched charlie and the chocolate factory on saturday with the usual gang at the usual gv grand (next time, we will go to gv tampines so i can be the last one to wake up!). all the bright and gaudy candy colours were such a stark contrast to the pallour of willy wonka's porcelain face ... and if ever such an eccentric man did exist, i would be quite afraid to be acquainted with him. would probably get nightmares of him chasing me in a boiled-sweet bulldozer at night. in related news, a touching article here about the circumstances that led roald dahl to write the book that inspired the movie. now that i recall his childhood fascination with candy and chocolates in boy, it all adds up. was also amused by this description of freddie highmore (as charlie): Freddie Highmore's Charlie doesn't actually have much screen time (he's a remarkably passive protagonist), but every time he gets a close-up those teacup ears make you laugh...
TEACUP EARS! what an adorable way to describe stick-out ears. i like!
