no presents under the christmas tree!

Dec 21, 2004 17:58

have been too busy counting down the days to that holiday in january that it only just struck me that christmas is on saturday and that there's really no time left for christmas shopping!
as such, i'm currently seriously weighing the opportunity cost of
1. attending rehearsal this evening;
2. going to the housewarming poolside party (or if guilt strikes, skipping the party and attending yet another rehearsal) tomorrow; and
3. the pre-christmas church dinner on thursday
in view of having done NO christmas shopping (for myself and others) as yet. and ESPECIALLY because i need to get presents for the people at work by friday since the christmas ra-ra in the office is too high to ignore. argh.

so.
i did go for the rehearsal afterall, but not before much grumbling (which made me feel better) to a very patient ch throughout the cab-ride to where the practice was held. it always happens like this. i'll get disgruntled at around 6pm (knock-off time) thinking about the long journey there (20 minutes by cab, an hour by mrt/bus) and then the trip back home (1 hour by mrt or bus), and i'll start wondering if it's all worth the effort and if going home (20 minutes by bus)/shopping/meeting ck is a better choice. but that feeling wears off once i step into the LT ... because i see the people who make rehearsals fun, who make making music together enjoyable ... the conductor for one, and then eric, midget, mollie, changfang and yiru. without them, i'd have opted out of the concerts a long time ago (because sole passion for music only takes me that far, and the opportunity cost of these concerts are really quite high!)

what i would really like is to spend a whole day before christmas at IKEA shopping my heart out. IKEA and orchard actually. one day should be enough time to cover both places *grins* unfortunately, that's not about to happen. must. think. of. alternative. ways. to. get. shopping. done.
