someone else's 24

aside from its heavyweight mudpies, i found out on sunday evening that big O cafe serves up some really decent food, albeit on the pricey side. of course, when a friend whips out a 1-for-1 set dinner coupon and one comes prepared to splurge because of the special occasion, the food doesn't seem that pricey anymore. i ordered the pan-fried cod even though my bad encounter with cod was not too long ago, and thankfully, i wasn't disappointed. generous piece of pan-fried cod fillet (crispy exterior and a melt-in-your-mouth interior) sitting in a bed of spinach, drizzled with tangy brown lemon sauce, and topped with capers, raisins and diced tomatoes. my tastebuds were whooping with delight.
good food to complement the really good company. i like. it's hard not to like having deep and shallow conversations, sharing tall tales and small victories, making fun of the most dire circumstances faced in the day-to-day and hearing of bigger plans-for-the-future in the making.
and then,
even though it's not my birthday, i'm now the owner of the piano score for huang2 he2 (yellow river concerto)! not that i can play any part of the score decently (because i tried it out the moment i reached home), but whoohoo! all the same. now to make sure i don't make a mess of an uplifting and expansive piece with my terrible piano playing.
