berkeleybunch at (my) home

Mar 01, 2009 15:05

yay for the berkeleybunch gathering at our place yesterday.
it was great to be able to hang out with friends and just stay away from work for a whole blessed day. js and xy came over early to help with the cooking, and the extra hands really made the food preparation much easier and more fun in the warm kitchen.
thankfully, the ideas and recipes from the cookbook didn't fail us, so we had lots of home-cooked food to eat. prawns with dessicated coconut (sinful), prima taste chicken curry (shortcut to sinfulness), a colourful gado gado platter (with sinful dodgy-looking-but-actually-quite-nice peanut sauce), chicken stew with chinese mushrooms and dried scallops, and a last-minute egg/tomato bruschetta. then there were the fiery hot buffalo wings that we ordered from buckaroo's. i think we'll stick with level 2 wings from now on. level 4 was quite a killer and those who were brave enough to try had their tastebuds temporarily stunned and stunted for quite awhile afterwards.
dessert was a whole other story, with many people contributing to the list of sweet stuff we got to enjoy. yōkan (a very dense japanese jelly dessert), donuts, grapes, tiramisu no. 3 and ben & jerry's ice cream.
there was so much food we didn't even begin on the snacks.

now back to the (work) grindstone.
i can't wait for our europe holiday in april! :D

food, friends
