bumboat ride for the singaporean

took a bumboat ride on the singapore river for the first time in my life on sunday, and only because we were playing tour guide to ck's malaysian cousin and american friend. also whipped up a home-cooked dinner for them before packing them off to the night safari ... quite surreal, having an ang moh in our home having bak kut teh, pan-fried salmon and stir-fried veggies. ah well, probably good practice since dorm mate from berkeley is coming by singapore in july and i'll probably have to bring her and her friends around.

anyway, during the bumboat ride, we "sailed" past (more like chugged past ... no sails on bumboats, so somehow i can't associate the smooth elegance of sailing in the high seas with "sailing" along the singapore river, although the recorded commentary chirped out "thanks for sailing with us!" at the end of the ride) where the merlion used to be and couldn't help but recall how a long long time ago, we stood there looking out at the singapore river, talked about the randomest stuff and still managed to enjoy ourselves (so much so that ck nearly *gasp* missed his man utd match). i guess dating in jc was just uncomplicated like that ... and if i had to do it all over again, i'd choose to fall in like (?) love (?) in the same simple way.

trying to squeeze in a holiday straight after samba-land, and at the moment, this place looks very inviting for the two of us who just want to getaway and nua after not having a holiday since the honeymoon. ME WANT HOLIDAY!!
