These brushes are hella difficult to work with, at least compared to the way I usually work. I’m not sure just where to put my lines or detail without destroying the interesting brush strokes. I’m spending like twice as long on this thing just trying to place the same line down over and over with minute shifts to the left, right, or changes in color.
Yu Yu Hakusho was my first anime/manga fandom. I got a card of Kitsune Kurama out of a machine in Chinatown and was obsessed with it until I happened across a Taiwanese videostore that had Chinese subbed copies of YYH. Unfortunately, it was all in Mandarin while I came from a Canto speaking household. I had very a very tolerant mother willing to verbally translate EACH AND EVERY LINE.
I recently rewatched the whole series with the Funimation dub which I quite enjoyed (gasp, I know) - I felt it added a lot more to Kuwabara’s role somehow, though they also made some of his coolest, manliest lines a lot more cheesy because they couldn’t leave those parts as a straight translation. The explanations killed it, in a bad way. I thought the audience could have understood what he meant just fine.
I never got over how cute Hiei and Yukina looked when grouped together near Kuwabara. The size difference made me want to leap into the tv screen to squeeze them. I’m pretty sure Kuwabara shared the sentiment. This entry was originally posted at http://speedtribes.dreamwidth.org/7533.html with
