This week's post is going to be short. My wireless keyboard battery is dead, and I am a slow 2 finger Typer with my onscreen keyboard.
I don't think a lot happened this week. Lots at work, but not much at home. The Mater is seeing a nutritionist, recommended by a friend (who lost 25lbs last year) and approved by her doc. She started the new diet on 1/1. It's vey similar to the Paleo diet. The first 30 days: no sugar, no dairy, no grains, no legumes, limited fruit & veg, and only olive oil or coconut oil for fats. Since mom is a huge dairy and candy fan, she is having a very hard time of it but so far she is sticking to the rules. B is helping out big-time by either preparing the meals or making sure she has a plate prepped. So the next tricky part is making sure that B understands all of the rules (like cornstarch is still considered a grain). It takes a village.
Winter has hit with a vengeance. Two Monday's ago we had 9 inches of snow, yesterday the bottom fell out of the thermometer, so we are only in the teens during the day and close to 0 at night. Looks like that's how it is going to stay for the foreseeable future.
Lycan had a hard week. We had to drug her 3 different nights for storms, construction and snow plows. Those are hard nights for everyone.
The past week, work has been hard, a couple of long days when crisis occurred at 4pm, and HAD to be fixed immediately. There was also a lot of walking or other stressors on my knees, so I had a lot of soreness.
This coming week, I have my first one on one meeting with my boss, of the new year. There has been no more communication about me moving up to be a BI Developer, so I'm bringing that up as a topic of conversation. If it's not happening I want to know so I can change my focus accordingly. In all actuality it makes little difference to what I do if they give me that job, I'll still be doing the same work (which means I'm already doing BI Developer's job) I was just hoping for a bit of a raise. Okay, I was hoping for a big raise, but Blue Kids is non-profit, so they can pay less. =\
Tomorrow night is Brady Gals, our Xmas get-together. I'll have to post a photo of my gifts later. They are from
Ravena-Kade, M's sister. Very cute ceramic snowmen, and fleece scarves made by her Dad's co-workers. Ravena was great: the snowmen's knit hats and mittens are color-matched with the scarves. Just adorable! I'm bringing salad, tossed salad with walnuts, craisons & dried blueberries, with a cranberry walnut vinagret dressing.
Today's miracle: The Packers beat the Redskins.
