Sunday Night Check In

May 11, 2015 00:35

Back to my usual poor time management for my weekend.
Big accomplishments this week. Finally picked out 2 potential docs for my knee surgery. The are both well rated and well reviewed and in my insurance network. So tomorrow, I make initial appointments with both of them, to see what they have to say. One doc is in his 40's and the other is early 60's. I want to hear what they would propose for total knee replacement, and if they will do both knees at once (my preference). I'm hoping to schedule the surgery for mid-June.

We had a good weekend, although it was cold (in the 40's) and rainy today. Went to the dog park Friday (Bernard), Sat and Sunday. Lots of dogs (>50) at Currie on Friday; it was a beautiful evening in the 70's. Saturday was cold and only about half as many dogs (no bullies), and today there were only 0-5 dogs at different points, it was cold and misting and foggy and the park ranger was there checking tags.

We had a nice Mother's day. B made cinnamon rolls, and made her french toast for breakfast. Then they had an afternoon ball game, ad the Brewers actually WON! B fulfilled Mom's request for beef stroganoff for dinner. Afterwards we all played Rummy Royal. I stayed for a about 3 rounds before having to come upstairs and order my reports for the week. We've had Baby Bro & SIL & Nova for the last 10 days, and it's been good. Our only real conflict is with the refrigerator. This visit, SIL didn't stock up on food to take back home with them on the first day here.

Work is changing again. I'm on my third manager in the last 12 months, 4th of you go back 16 months. I'm still trying to suss out the new guy. In one on one, we seem to speak the same language, but I'm not seeing a lot of respect yet. In the last week he has come to me with questions 2-3 times. The first time was with an SQL question, and I wondered why he asked me, because there are others much stronger in it than me. I found out I was not the first or 2nd choice, but the third person he asked. But I was the 1st one who knew the answer! Same scenario for 2nd request*. Third time he actually came to me for my Access acumen (but mostly because the guy he would have gone to first, is too busy in the boss's eyes, to bother. But I was again able to surpass his expectations, and even ended up with stats that showed he had been over reporting our output by a 4x (90 per month rather than 300+). He was certain my calculations were WRONG! But I walked him through my queries, and I was right. Now he has to go to upper management and down grade his stats for the last 4 months. Oops. But now he says he trusts my numbers, and my work. So that's good for me.
