Saturday - Things are looking up

Mar 15, 2015 00:47

I'm feeling a lot better. Nothing like getting a ton of sleep to really help the bidy fight off whatever the hell is going on. Although my cough is getting worse. I'm fine and quiet as long as I'm not exerting, or talking. So sitting in my chair and watching TV or web surfing and quiet as can be; anything else, and there are the lungs I keep hacking up everywhere. Still running a low grade fever, too. Guess I'll be calling Dr. Paul on Monday.

Finally called Eye Doc yesterday, since it's been a month since I ordered my new glasses. Big surprise, the glasses have been ready for a while, they just never called me to say so. =(

Things are going pretty well at work. I was very productive this week, and able to solve almost all of my problems. It's sooooo nice having colleagues that you can ask for ideas when you get stuck! On the other hand, I found out that two of the programs I support on the Blue Kid side of things (I need a better code name) are each hiring anothering another data analyst. The Program II support with 2 others on teh insurance side has also been looing to hire a clone of me for about 5 months. Now, they've been tryiing to hire someone else with similar to my skills for nearly 2 years without luck (pay is too low); but the new leadership has decided to bypass HR and do their own search & interviewing. And now they have a handful of viable candidates. They just announced on Friday that Big G hired someone. I'm starting to wonder if they fill the other 2 openings if I'll get pushed out? I won't loose my job, god knows there is enough work on the clinical side, I'd just have to learn a lot of new workflows. I guess that wouldn't be so bad. But I've got 5 years of experience and a pretty deep knowledge pool of the Blue Kids stuff. It's just got methinking.

On the home front, the weather has been fabulous all week, in the 50's nearly every day, and it's supposed to continue through next week in the high 40's and low 50's. A really great springlike weather pattern. The dog park has finally dried out, so Lycan is running with all of her friends, she got nicely tired out today. There was an male dog that looked like a Basenji mix there today who was going around peeing on everyone's legs, behind their backs. The only think that made it not be horrible, was that he was cocking he leg every 10 seconds, so her was bone dry. But still, I hated that he was cocking his leg on all of the people. His owner's just thought it wsa funny. Not! They are getting him neutered next week. A little late on that, IMO.

Last night, M let Lycan out into theyard for her final pee of the night, Lycan was unsupervised for about 2 minutes, and when M went to call her in, Lycan was gone. She'd jumped the fence again. They found her down near the corner (not by big busy street Bluemound). Scarey! So today we picked up materials to raise the height of the fence behind the bench. Right now, the fence (and I'm talking plastic mesh garden fencing) only goes about 2ft above the height of the bench built into the fence, and that's the problem. Lycan jumps up on the bench and it's only a hop over the mesh. I got taller poles, and we will raise the mesh height to it's full 3.5 feet above the bench. She shouldn't be able to get her head over the top, so hopefully that should be enough of a deterent for casual fence hopping.

Now that the snow has melted, something icky has been revealed on several of my neighbor's lawns. From a few feet, it looks like a light snowcover, or frost, but on closer inspection, the grass has a layer of something white, all over it. It looks like s layer of drier lint, or thick spide webbing. The only thing I can think it might be is some type of mold. These neighbors all get their yards treated by a lawn company, and maybe the grass was treated right before a snowfall last fall, and somehow a mold or mildew grew? I don't know but it's gross, and I'm hoping like hell it doesn't spread or send out spores. The bad thing is that it's in the back & front yards of the house to our south (between us & Lewis's yard, where Lycan jumps the fence) and the house directly across the street from us. Not surprisingly, both yards are maintained by the same guy (the neighbor across the street). I don't want to walk on it and possible contaminate our yard, byy working on the fence, either.

Aside from it being on friday's this season, I'm enjoying the new season of The Amazing Race (TAR). Interesting concept of having half of the teams be people who are on "blind dates", and met for the first time on the day the race started. There are several teams that I can't keep straight, with tall dark-haired guys, and shorter dark-haired women. I fnally figured out that the couple I like is Team SoCal. My least favorite, is definitely Team Rx. Neither of them are very likeable, both so egotistical, but she just NEVER shuts up. OMG. Give it a rest! I don't like him at all, but I'm starting to feel sorry for them. I hope they are out soon. My favorite team, surprisingly to me, is Team NewKids, they are both so likeable, and treat each other so well. I think they got screwed, through no fault of their own, with that plane business out of (whatever that first country was, I no longer remember). I'm also turned my feelings around about Team Truck Stop. I thought they were a couple of red-necked losers to begin with, and the gentle care that he treats his girlfriend with is so touching. It looks to me like he loves her a LOT, and she does not reciprocate. I hope it's not as one-sided as it looks.

Happy Pi Day! (Yesterday was French Silk from Baker's Square at work, and Apple from Simma's Bakery at home. Today was apple tartlets from Omaha Steak. Yummy, all the way around!
