Easter

Got to take a walk at the zoo today. First time in months. There have been a few changes. improvements, paths being repaired., etc. The elllies were out. Ruth looked happy as a clam, covered with fresh mud, crunching her hay. We saw one of the jaguars, outside. Actually walking around. They are funny cats, much shorter legs then you would expect, and a more compact body. There was a new air raid tornado siren on a pole right across from the Lion yard. I hope to never be near when it goes off. There are signs slapped on it warning of potential hearing damage when servicing the equipment.

Dinner turned out pretty well. The ham tasted good, but I over cooked it. Next year, remember, low and slow but not so long! The potatoes were fabulous. I made the basic Ore-Ida hash brown casserole (recipe on the back of the bag), with these enhancements. Use 1x the amount of soup & sour cream. use 1.5 times of potatoes, one bag with peppers & onions, and the half bag was plain. Added 1.5 tsp ground rosemary, 1 tablespoon parsley, and sautéed the onions before adding. Made green beans almondine with a lemon-butter sauce. They were okay, but not as flavorful as I had hoped.

Baby bro and SIL brought the puppy Nova. She is such as sweet, good dog. But she peed on the living room carpet (she's never done that before!) Yeah, they probably hadn't caught her doing it. It was while we were eating and no one was paying too close attention to her. SIL should have just put her on the leash while we ate.

It was a long day, and we didn't serve dinner until 5:30. What was good about that, people didn't come over until 5. Although Sainted Big Bro™ came over around 1pm with a bunch of sophisticated color-balancing equipment (a camera-sensor, a tripod, and some high-tech software) to calibrate the color on all of our TVs. He spent about 3 hours doing it. Nice results I must say. But by the time I finished cleaning up from dinner, it was 8pm and baby Bro & SIL wanted to play games, because they aren't going home until Monday night. Sorry! Not for me. I needed some quality time off my feet with the TV, and without company. It was 10 pm before B & M came upstairs.

Tonight I am grateful for company that goes home, for nice walks at the zoo, and for pleasant times with the family. How's that for contradictive?
