Well having accepted the fact that there is no way I'm getting out of going to Ft. Hood and that I'm in Atlanta waiting for a flight out to Killeen as I write this update, I've done a little, and I mean next to none kind of little, research on where I'm going. It turns out that I'm going to 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. Light infantry who don't believe in motorized vehicles. Good thing I've been walking around so much with a 55-65lbs ruck, although I hate road marches. I don't have nearly as much freedom as when I do it myself. Another thing I've heard about this unit is that it is brand spanking NEW! As in they don't even have weapons yet and won't be deployable until late 2008 to early 2009. Even a piss poor soldier such as myself might make E-5 (sergeant for those of you not versed in the pay grade scale our government uses) in that time. Thats all for now. Out.
