[Transmission #21 (Black Hole)]

Dec 17, 2008 22:07

[ Sasuke is standing quietly next to the corpse of the Captain, having made his way to the bridge as soon as he could after the announcement. Turns out that's pretty damn fast, even if you don't have the shortcuts of some other people on board. He regards the looming ah, black hole without expression. At least someone was nice enough to set a ( Read more... )

[ He hasn't looked over; he recognized the voice. ]

Thank you.

[finally makes his way through to level 1 and nears the bridge. he's slightly breathy--running nine straight floors can do that. he calls out before he enters]

Sasuke? You still there with our good ol' captain?

Yes, for all the company he's worth.

[smirks, walks into the bridge, the black hole looming in front of him. the smell of decay hits his nose and he makes quick face at the odor before slipping his glasses on and making a beeline for the body.]

So I see. [squats down besides the captain's chair.] Was this exactly how you found him?

[ He nods, looking the Captain over briefly. ]

There was no point in moving him.

Hmmm... [delicate grabs the captain's shoulder and lifts him up slightly--as best as he can, given the advanced state of rigor mortise the body's in]

Doesn't seem to have hit any vital controls either when he died.

[looks at sasuke with an eyebrow raised] So who the hell have we been talking and listening to this entire time?

[ Sasuke has taken this moment to look back toward the monitor with the swirling mass of gravity known as the Black Hole. ]

A phantasm, for all we know. Corpses might walk in other worlds, but this one doesn't look to have moved for at least as long as I've been on board.

[ He looks back to the Doctor. ]

Your guess is likely better than mine.

Ahhh, unfortunately, I have no expertise in the area of the supernatural. There's always a logical and scientific reason for things that go bump in the night.

You don't seem all that surprised by this. Normally, people hear the words 'black hole' and begin to panic.

There might well be one for our virtual Captain, then. For the good that may do us now.

[ Sasuke offers a small shrug, looking back to the monitor as he answers. ]

This is an extravagant delivery, but death doesn't change. It's almost a relief to not have to expect it anymore.

[nods in agreement--

then gives the young man a surprised look] Hold on, you were expecting to die here?

Here, specifically?

[ he shakes his head. ]

Not entirely. I could be caustic enough to say yes, but I'm not precognitive.

[smirks] Who is? Even I'm not and I'm a lot of things.

You once told me you're a ninja, as is your brother. I gather that such a lifestyle doesn't exactly garner a long life expectancy, huh?

[ Sasuke snorts. ] Not everyone can step back from their egocentric view to understand what they don't know.

Median age is twenty-three, though the average is higher. [ It's funny that way. ]

[starts examining the damaged consoles, getting a general idea of what they might've done before he really dives in.]

So mid-life crisis in your twenties, huh? Had mine centuries ago, though some might argue differently...

Mid-life crisises come around the end of your life? How misleadingly named. [ he shrugs and manages curiosity looking at the Doctor. ] Would they argue it's been ongoing?
