Miranda despised Omega. The sight, the smell, all of it invaded her senses in a putrid manner. She was anticipating the decontamination process like it was a gift she will be treating herself to.

So when she helped Shepard and Jacob lug the turian, Archangel, onto the Normandy shuttle cruiser, she felt pure relief as the door closed away the ( Read more... )

I was worried about the perspective change. When I put in the equal signs, I use those to symbolize elapsed time, while the hyphens are just switches of scenes but it takes place around the same time but I think that still might be too confusing, unless I just state it at the beginning. I do want to keep the different character perspectives but it might take away from the point... a lot to think about.

I remember reading a MShep/Miranda story where each section of the chapter would be written in the perspective of a different character on whatever event was going on and the author would use line breaks and insert the names of whose point-of-view was whose. Even though you're getting a lot of different voices in the narration, they all touch up on the romance plot. Like Shepard thinks about Miranda, Miranda thinks about Shepard, Garrus wonders about Shepard AND Miranda being close and the same goes for other squad members' views. That story is actually also one of those game retellings-types so it's not like someone's love life is really the main point. Actually it's beginning to look more of a subplot. It's this one: Immortality. Anyway, that story actually has a pretty good model on putting together subplots (I guess for each squad member once in a while) but it still has that single thread sewn through each chapter. I guess you can say I'm taking on a similar style but incidentally I discovered this story right after I finished this first chapter (not even sure if I want to call it a chapter lol).

As for Garrus not liking Miranda, that's not something I ever thought of dismissing between their interaction. Also, Garrus isn't the only one who isn't gung-ho about Cerberus. Shepard is as well. In fact, Shepard has more reasons than Garrus to not trust them, yet even then he can still grow to like Miranda depending how you play the game. The Miranda LI isn't played as emotionally tact as the Garrus or Tali LI options but it is still an option. I also don't see Garrus as the type of person who would be curtly rude or disrespectful to the people who pretty much put him back up to speed. They may be Cerberus workers, but they work for Shepard.

Miranda does seem like too much of a lapdog for Cerberus, but if you think about why she personally continues to work for them, she may not want to abuse her position by speaking candidly on what she doesn't approve of. For what anyone knows, she could just be showing face when she's on-duty. As for her alien views, I think she's more comfortable about them than most Cerberus workers. Not just in practice, but also in words (if you compare her outspoken disdain for aliens with Ashley's dialogue). And if you recall that scene where she apologizes to Shepard, she mentions something about how Cerberus needs more people joining for the right reasons ("right" could just be what she sees as right, and not what TIM thinks) and not purely out of xenophobia. I don't think Cerberus is meant to be anti-alien anyway. Just a lot of really stupid people who really are xenophobic take that mindset into their work, but not the whole group.

I actually have some stuff typed down about their fathers and the differences between her successions and his failures, along with a turned-table version of that. In fact, those were the first things that came to mind when I thought of them possibly being a pairing. YES YOU TOTALLY BRAINWAVED ON ME. ♥

Well for what I still kept in the possible next chapter, it does start to touch up on Garrus mentally rolling his eyes at Miranda's snootiness, since it's so easy to get a poor first impression of her. It's basically he, Miranda, and Shepard recruiting Zaeed, and all four of them getting Mordin. Indeed Garrus is going to the plague zone. Let's hope he knows how to cover his mouth when he coughs.

Anyway I'M SO HAPPY YOU READ THIS. ♥ Thank you for reading this piece of crap idea that just won't die a swift death. You have no idea how much it means to me.

Any Deleted Scenes coming up for today, by any chance?

I'll take your extra hyphen thing into consideration. Actually that last part was always a bother for me because I was wondering if it even seemed like something that could happen in the game. I know fan fiction doesn't have to be totally canon but I do want to make something sound plausible.

When there's a will there is a way... but in this case there's most likely going to be a lot of detours to take but hey nothing wrong with short sightseeing.

Oh I won't make them go, "slap, slap, kiss". Definitely not. This won't be a kink meme lol. Plus something like this will give me a good excuse to make up squad banter, which relates to your inquiry about Shepard talking in and out of missions with her. When Shepard is ashore and he doesn't bring either Garrus or Miranda... well they can't stay in their rooms the whole time Shepard's gone. They do have to eat... maybe drink (since the ship does have a bar, ho yay). And chief reporting to XO was also what I had in mind. As for snarking, we'll get that everywhere. He might even ask her why she doesn't have a real helmet and uses a breathing mask (because I want to ask her why she doesn't use a goddamned helmet -_-).

I don't want to let it die! If there was a Writing God who can answer my prayers... that would be so sweet right now. And I'll die happy if I end up converting someone to like this pairing too. XD

Bah packing is one of the least fun things ever for me, even if I know the trip will be fun. I hate having a limited amount of clothes and whatnot. D: take your time though!
