True Blood, "I Will Rise Up" -- SPOILERISH
You know, I read the books, so I kinda knew this was coming. Sometimes a minor character comes along and you just become attached to him or her like crazy, for no real reason beyond the fact that something clicks. Of course, there are really only three outcomes for a bit part.
One, they're bumped up to main character. Two, they're recurring.
Or, and of course this was the case tonight, they're killed off.
I'm all sad and weepy now. I really, really liked Godric, just like I really, really liked Sirius Black and (*gasp*) Bela Talbot. That 2,000 year old vampire was a helluva lot more interesting and sympathetic than a lot of the other characters on that show. What made it really bittersweet was the fine acting by Alexander Skarsgard. Yeah, Paquin nailed it, but that was expected. Allan Hyde did an awesome job and I completely and utterly bought him as Godric. Skarsgard, however, finally got to show some emotion as Eric with this storyline and when he started talking and crying in Swedish. . . well, I was blubbering like a wet baby.
Damn you, writer(s). Damn you, Charlaine Harris, for writing good source material. Now I'm off to read me some Godric/Eric slash, and I don't care what you guys think! *sticks out tongue* XD
