You make me want to write more of this right now! Alas, I'm kind of inebriated. ;)
Still, I like the idea of writing Wincest, seeing as I've never done so. Also, what about my beloved OTP of Rick/Daryl? Is that too much mansex for one universe? Or what if it's not Wincest but Dean and Rick? Imagine Sam's psychoanalysis of Dean in pursuing that relationship. On the other hand, with Wincest, I like the idea of Glenn kind of uncomfortably putting the pieces together first and telling Maggie and Michonne not really giving a fuck who's fucking whom as long they're on the up and up and our Winchesters are certainly no slouches when it comes to "ganking" creatures. Plus, what about the supernatural critters? Are any of the Walking Dead group supernatural? Woodbury? Terminus sure reads differently in light of SpN's wendigo myth and what about the abusive doc in Alexandria? How would Dean and Sam react to that situation? Plus, another tiny Sam totally unprepared for the apocalypse. Or Carol! Man, this is a universe I really wish I had the time to dive into! Like my Devil's Advocate crossover that still lives and thrives in my head. ;)
I think I just drunkenly rambled an entire dissertation to you, Snuggles. Begging your pardon!
Maybe there's Dean flirting with everyone, including Rick and Daryl and definitely Glenn and even Hershel, and Sam going, "Dean, stop trying so hard: they already like you."
Maybe the situation you described is kind of a Through a Glass, Darkly AU. I've done that before with the boys and it was surprisingly cathartic. The "well, it could have been worse" mentality of processing grief at the way season 5 turned out. Plus, I gotta say, I love the idea that Daryl is asexual, and Rick is waaaaaaay too messed up (and self-aware enough to know he's messed up) to ever actually get with anyone after the whole Lori deal. Wincest seems the most intriguing route, but then you already knew that, didn't you, you minx of the dirtybadwrong sexytimes? ;)

Just...no Dean/Rick, please! I just couldn't bear it. Unless Sam is no longer around, and then maybe it gets top-heavy with angst, ha!
