job hunting

bea and I have been applying to jobs since we were in Eugene still, so that's about 6 weeks now. Well, last Tuesday (just 2 days ago, I guess) I went in for an interview! I was so excited that I was asked for an interview, I know the job market is really tight, and I was anticipating being unemployed for another month or two. The interview went really well, apparently, since they called me back less that 24 hours later and offered me a position! I'm totally thrilled, since I'll be working with math educational software, which is totally in my career path. It is, unfortunately, a temporary position only, but it'll help. I can continue looking for permanent work with some flexibility in my timeline. I would be in to working here, since I'm interested in the product, rather than at my last job, which was developing a product I just didn't care about much. The product is something that will help teachers get their job done with less paperwork and be able to spend more time on just teaching.

Meanwhile, bea is currently at an interview with the Pacific Northwest College of Art, where he is being considered for a position as a part time professor of Math 100 and a Natural Science class. We're guessing that even if he was accepted for both positions, the pay would still be low since teachers aren't paid anything. So we're trolling for students to tutor in math. Putting up posters and flyers and a webpage. If he gets both classes and a few students to tutor, that would probably be fine. It's exciting though because I think he'd be totally into this job, and do very well, and maybe make a difference in some people's lives, which makes up for the low wages. Ideallism perhaps, but it's true.

It's so nice to be employed. I will probably start next tuesday.
