jello light show
one of my hippie friends owns a copy of the hippie cookbook, which i perused one time while hanging out at her pad, man. at the time, i wanted to jot down a few of the recipes, with the idea that i'd post them here for y'all to enjoy in one way or another, but hippie lady exclaimed "oh no, don't do that, i'll scan the ones you want and send them to you." since then i've reminded her a few times, and even offered to make copies myself, to no avail. it makes me so sad!
then i figured that i could at least tell you about one of them. i can't remember the name of this particular recipe but i'm sure title included a reference to an acid trip, or a light show, or psychedelics, or all of the above. essentially, here's what you do:
* prepare various colors (red, green, yellow, blue, etc.) of your favorite brand of gelatin.
* pour each batch of gelatin into multiple molds of different sizes and shapes; let it set.
* remove gelatin from molds and randomly stack them on a clear glass plate.
* illuminate the plate from underneath using a flashlight (or some other non-heat/low-heat-generating light).
* turn off any other lighting in the room and enjoy the psychedelic light show! (optionally, eat some acid or mushrooms beforehand. note: i don't think this suggestion was in the hippie cookbook, but it seems to me a good idea if ever you try making your own jello light show.)
