so this is today? really?
* wakened at 2am by phone. an authoritative female voice starts asking me questions and then tells me that one of the phones on my verizon family plan has been calling 911 and hanging up. THIRTEEN calls had been made in total and if i didn't stop it they were going to come arrest me, because it's my plan. i'm wide awake at this point and asking for the number. it's trav. with his DUI record there's NO WAY he's going to be messing around like that. as i'm on the phone, getting an earful from her, she says "he's calling again." i tell her to let me off the phone so i can follow up. i call trav. he sleepily answers the phone and says he has no idea what i'm talking about. he hasn't been calling, and he hasn't been rolling over on his phone in an accidentally-dialing-911 kind of way, and that his call listing shows NO CALLS TO 911. i call the cops back to explain. they say they've received FIVE MORE CALLS since i spoke to them. what the fuck? i have no idea. as you can see, they haven't arrested me (yet). it was well after 3am before i got back to sleep.
* 7:48am i get a text message from heather letting me know she left her Health book at my house yesterday and needs it for her final this morning. i drag my ass out of bed an hour later and drop her book off before 9am, the agreed upon time.
* go to gas station (on E of course) and insert my debit card into the machine. CARD REJECTED. try again. CARD REJECTED. go see the man in the booth so he can run my card. CARD REJECTED. luckily i have a $12 safeway gas card because i buy so many damn groceries there, so i use that and at least get *some* gas in my car.
* call credit union to inquire about rejected card. after satisfactorily answering a shit-ton of their total-bullshit-supposedly-identity-oriented questions the guy tells me that VISA cancelled a bunch of debit cards at 3am this morning because they were "compromised." WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN? the drone on the other end of the line had no idea of course. only knows that a "compromise" occurred and that VISA is sending me out a new card and i should receive it in 7-10 days. WHAT? what do i do for money in the meantime? well, i can go to the nearest branch and get a TEMPORARY debit card. oh thank goodness for that. i get to be embarrassed for having my card rejected AND i get to drive all the way to santa clara to the nearest people-filled office to get a temporary card while i wait UP TO 10 DAYS for my new card. now isnt' that just the ULTIMATE in banking convenience!
