I envy you so much! I want to be Princess Buttercup! You must post pictures of your costume!
That book and I have a loooong history together. In sixth grade there was nothing I wanted to read more, but I refused to read an abridged version. Well, finally I gave in and read "The Good Parts Version", and realized while reading it (this was in 7th grade) that there was no unabridged version! I've read it soooo many times ever since. When I went on a mission trip to Chicago this year, I brought it along as it's a book I can just pick up, flip open to a random page, and start reading because I know it so well. My friends Michael and Kimi asked me to read it aloud to him, so I read the part where Buttercup confesses her love (my favorite part), and then more people came around to listen, and it's been tradition on trips ever since! Michael is now a missionary in Atlanta and his mission team reads it to each other at night. It's a legacy.
XD PRINCESS BRIDE LOVE. I had the EXACT feelings about the abridged-ness but gave in when I found no sign of an unabridged version... And since then, I've discovered that S. Morgenstern doesn't (and has never) existed.
I never did believe in Santa/ Easter Bunny, but that... that was my Santa moment. T_T
yeah that really confuses me and I still don't get it. I know that the Goldman guy didn't write it. .. right? because he had it read to him? or did he write it? or did some dude just make up morgenstern? I have NEVER gotten it! hah.
goldman wrote the book as an "abridged" work (artistic license, i suppose); the whole business about stephen king and the lack-of-a-sequel is him being annoying or something. goldman made up morgenstern to make it a better story; therefore, all the commentary in the book is basically LIIIIIIIES ALL LIES. but its still an awesome book and i love it to death.
(sob) all this time i was like 'when i get pnemonuia, someone can read it too me, then i can write cool movies and books, and then abridge a cool book! whoooooooo'
but now. . .
man. that JERK... lying to his public... My life is a tangled webs of lies and deciet!
