Manga collector my get 30 years in jail
As an manga and comics fan, I understand the important of first amendment rights. First amendment rights allow fans to choose the manga and anime they want. Freedom of speech is important right in this country. Reagan believed that our freedom and liberty are what made this country great.
Right now, we have a very sad case of a person who has a Manga and Dvd collection and is being targeted for it. Anime News Network has a great editorial by Carl Horn (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/editorial/2008-12-11/christopher-handley/carl-horn) and news stories about the facts of the case.
If you are not a member of the CBLDF (the Comic book Legal Defense fund), this is a time to join. They are an organization that takes on Free Speech cases at no cost to the defendant. Membership is only $25. If you are a college student, give up $10 of that NYCC or Katsucon fund towards the CBLDF. I want the freedom to let fans decide what we can buy. I believe more in what people are willing to buy than in the postal service,which started this mess.
