Yagyuu, Renji, some others
Someone dies. Or is dead. Or both.
---
"Mission accomplished. The target has just been pronounced dead," Yagyuu Hiroshi told the man on the other line. He watched the paramedics zip the bag over the body and cart him off to the ambulance, where it would be taken to the morgue. In a few weeks, when no one comes to claim the body, it would be donated to a university or a scientific institution. Yagyuu was sure some Progenitors or It-X would love to have a new body to play with.
"Are you sure he's dead?" The machinized voice on the other end asked. Sakaki-san never revealed his true voice for some reason, and operatives never asked why. There was no reason to. "Yes, sir. I gave him twice the amount of that new drug you told me to give him," Yagyuu replied. Thrice, because Yagyuu wanted to be sure he was dead. "Good," Sakaki-san said. Even with the artificial voice, Yagyuu could sense he was really pleased. Maybe this time, he would be promoted to a Gray Suit, and he would no longer take orders from Mizuki.
Yagyuu watched as the ambulance disappeared as it turned the corner. "Report back to Control for your debriefing. Let the Watchers take care of the rest." The line went dead and Yagyuu flipped close his phone and nodded at his new mission partner. "Time to head back," he said. A few more deaths and Kabaji's murder would be avenged. Marui Bunta was only the first.
In a building across the city, two men stood in front of a tinted glass window, watching the bustling city nightlife. A third man joined them moments later. "It seemed the new drug your team developed works, Renji," the newcomer said. The taller of the two smiled. "Of course it works," Renji said. "I developed it myself. If I didn't, things would not go as planned." The other two men agreed.
