Watch your back!

Feb 23, 2011 23:07

I decided I would like a little watch that I saw in a store in passing -- made of silicone, small, no one would want to steal it, could wear to the gym. Interestingly, I found it. The question is: how much should I pay for it?

Just look at the sites I found, to understand why I'm a bit leery of giving my CC number:

Esso Watches - $15.95
Silicone Watches - $12.99
not quite so eerily similar:
Silicone Band Watches - $6.99
Io?ion! -$21.99
Element Activewear - $13.75
more to the point:
Made in China.com - buy 500, get 500 watches!

And they come in the same damn test tube shaped packaging. Just like the ones I saw at Sports Authority, or whatever.

I mean, I know how stuff works, but this is disturbing.
What's interesting is that the manufacturers (totally in China somewhere!) put the "brand" on the side and then in between the hour and the minute on the face of the watch.

I wonder what 500 cost? Who wants to be my friend on Facebook?!

Oh, geez - Who wants one from Amazon.com - $0.02 with $5.99 S&H

Other rip-offs:
Overstock.com is having a SALE - $18.99

Oh, perhaps THIS is really the way to go:
20 watches, $29.89

...

and just because you weren't annoyed enough, you really need to look at this alternative product, THAT HAS NO APPARENT UTILITY WHATSOEVER -- but I have to admit it looks kind of cool:
The Darth Vader Atomic Balance Band!!!!!!

Element Activewear’s Atomic Sports Band is performance, balance and style - all in one simple package. The Atomic collection features holograms and tourmaline infused silicone designed to react with your body’s naturally occurring energy.

....

I'm sorry.
All I was looking for was a GDMF watch!!!

fun, strange
