The people at work (in the ultrasound unit) are generally very good cooks. There's a large contingent of the people there who love to bake, and then there's a few others who make other interesting things. We have a sort of birthday cake round robin -- you bring dessert for the person after you, and we have a list.
So, in the one remaining month of the year before we go into the unbelievable holiday food eating season. The time when there's still an inkling of a chance that one could avoid putting on 10 lbs by the end of the year --
We are now doing a Pumpkin Bake Off!!
That being said, people are clamoring for dates for which they can bring in their pumpkin-related goodies. I'm sure there will be pumpkin cake, pumpkin cheesecake bars, and a whole bunch of other things. I decided that I wasn't sure what I would bring, or when, so I told them I'd participate "in my own way," and left it at that.
I still like my original idea -- get a dozen or so of those little pumpkin squashes (the inedible kind) and bring some markers for people to decorate them with.
But, on my way home from quilting class -- and getting lost in Roxbury of all places in the middle of the night -- I stopped at the ice cream store on the corner and got a quart of Pumpkin Ice Cream. If everyone's lucky, I'll remember to take it with me to work tomorrow. Then someone can find spoons, etc. We'll have to see how that all goes.
