RL with Ken and Chloe

Since they'd been given the chance to have the place to themselves for the day, they'd decided to actually try watching a movie. One in English since Aya had insisted upon Ken improving his English skills. Watching a film would be a good way for him to try to learn more. Besides, he could improve his own skills while he was at it ( Read more... )

The English rule hadn't made Ken happy, but he really did need to work on it so when Aya didn't bend about it, he settled down quickly enough. Truth be told, he was looking forward to the movie itself, even more so now that he knew it would give them a chance to show a little open affection.

Humming under his breath, he leaned himself closer to Aya, his fingers squeezing his hand.

"Are you sure I can con you about the language?"

Chloe was still getting used to requiring reading glasses and he'd managed to leave his at home, which he fortunately managed to notice before he got too far away. Unfortunately, that meant returning after Ken and Aya had seemed thrilled to enjoy a day to themselves.

He let himself in quietly and paused when he got close to the living room. They already looked comfortable; interrupting them would make him feel bad. For now, he decided to stand and watch.

"You want to con me into picking a film in Japanese."

Aya lifted a brow in Ken's direction before looking back at the screen. It seemed that he didn't intend to change it. Not when it was good for Ken to get used to dealing with the different language. He had to learn to speak int properly eventually.

"You are free to try but I doubt it will work."

Grinning, he turned to nip at Aya's ear, intent on changing his mind. He didn't notice that they were being watched. After all, he had other things on his mind.

Watching them made him sigh softly. Chloe wasn't lying when he said he was happy for them, but it hurt to see it so close to him. Even if he believed he might get it eventually, Aya and Ken had that sort of happiness now, while he had nothing other than friendship with all of the team.

He hoped they wouldn't hear or notice him walking behind the couch quietly....

"Ken."

It wasn't much of a protest though. That would have implied that he minded. On the other hand, he was sure that he could sense another person nearby and thought about turning his head to look. He even started. Though it probably seemed more like he was trying to escape rather than do something else.

Sighing at the apparent evasion, Ken shifted back a little, his gaze following the same direction Aya's was headed in. It took him a moment to realize that Chloe was behind them, but as soon as he did, he scooted the tiniest bit away from Aya.

"Uh... hey. Didn't know you were there..."

He raised an eyebrow when they slid away, hoping it wasn't because of the slightly pained look he wore.

"I forgot my reading glasses and had to come back," he explained flatly, deliberately hiding his other emotions. "I didn't mean to interrupt anything."

Pausing the film, Aya turned to face Chloe completely. He found he didn't feel guilty for the moment he'd been having with Ken. In this case, he was far more concerned about his blond friend.

"Chloe."

The tone made Ken's stomach twist a little uncomfortably. It wasn't from guilt. It was more that Ken didn't want to cause his friend and teammate pain by rubbing his face in it. Shrugging a bit, he turned back towards the tv but glanced back when he saw that Aya had paused the movie.

"You didn't. We were just about to watch a movie."

"It's still interrupting. You wanted time alone and here I am ruining it because I was forgetful."

He hadn't expected to feel jealous of them simply cuddling, so Chloe was trying not to make a big deal of it. "I'll grab my glasses and leave to let you get back to the movie."

Chloe didn't have to actually say anything for Aya to get the idea of what was going on here. It hurt just to see his friend hurting like that. He'd been trying to keep affections like this private for this reason.

"You're not alright." There was no question about that at all.

For once in his life, Ken had enough sense to stay quiet. After all, he knew that talking about things like this wasn't his strong point.

Why was Aya making this into a big deal when Chloe wanted the exact opposite of that? It'd be easier for him to get back to his movie watching with Ken than to deal with Chloe's petty bad mood.

He shot Ken a look, almost begging him to cut this off and spare him a lecture. "I'll be fine. Don't ruin your date for my sake, Aya."

At that Aya frowned and actually stood up to move around to the other side of the couch. Though he didn't like this interruption, he couldn't allow his friend to just shove him away in this manner.

"Will be is a future tense."

"You're not ruining anything Chloe. Please don't feel that way."

While Ken had stayed put on the couch, he was turned now, his gaze locked on his friend.
