I've never owned a piece of technology that made me feel stupid.
Then came my new cell phone, the LG Xenon, that I got today. I have never felt less intelligent than when I try to figure out that phone.
Don't get me wrong, I love it, it's a huge improvement over my old one, but I just can't figure the damn thing out! What is wrong with me? What is wrong with this bloody phone?
For instance, every time I get a call the phone tries to say the name instead of playing the cool ringtone I made. And when it tries to pronounce mom? I can't decide if it sounds more like a bleating sheep or a dying one.
And there is no easy way to find out how to get it to stop!
How embarrassing really.
In the end, it's still wicked cool to have a new gadget to play with. My old phone was a replacement for an even older phone (I had it for three years, I think) so the amount of stuff I can do on it is making my geeky heart flutter. Now I can check my email whenever I want, or get on AIM, or even update Facebook (not that I ever do normally). It's a neat feeling knowing that you're always connected to the world not matter where you go. I like it.
I also need a name for the stupid thing. It starts with a letter X so I'm trying to think of X names. Xavier is already taken, my XM radio took it. But it's blue so maybe a B name. Hmm, choices.
Oh! I just found the perfect name! Xenophon, named after the ancient Greek soldier and writer. That is perfect. Maybe I've regained some of that intelligence back.
Hmm, let's see if I can work the phone now. *tries* Stupid phone!
