6x01 and 6x02 - A Reaction (Very Long)

May 01, 2011 12:02

Now that the opening two-parter of Series 6 has ended, I believe I'm now ready to compose some, mostly useful, but most likely brain-fried, thoughts and comments on the two episodes.

Behind the cut.

I remember a friend of mine chortling when Rusty trashed the coral TARDIS during Ten's regneration because it meant Moffat wouldn't get a chance to play with all of the old toys.

Hehe. Although the TARDIS has changed a few times before so perhaps Moffat was happy about it? idk.

(I never saw Ten's TARDIS in the previews at all! I feel so dumb.)

Doctor/Rose will always have my heart of course but in the same breath I would be happy if he moved on from all that heartache.

Yeah, pretty much. I mean, I'll probably always believe that they were too epic for anything else to even compare (and in my head they are always happy living in pre-AoG/DD Series 2 or Pete's World) but Eleven is so different, too different, and he needs to move on like people, and Time Lords I'm assuming, do. You may have met your soulmate but, for reasons one cannot fathom, you may not be able to be with them.

And as for River/Doctor, yes yes yes. I still am hoping for a ridiculous miracle but it seems less and less likely. Even if it was just childhood infatuation along the lines of Amy's infatuation with the Doctor, I'd be ok with that type of River storyline (mostly). Otherwise... le sigh.

Yeah it's only in there for like a second. I nearly fell off my chair from excitement when I saw it :P but who knows what that's all about anyway.

That...about sums up my feelings about them too tbh. And hey, that's why we have AU and fanfiction right? Gotta love it.

Yeah but even a childlike infatuation like Amy's...that's just repeating a story he's already done in the previous season so that would be disappointing to me too! :(

Argh Moffat. *shakes fist*

Yeah...who knows. ARGH!

Mmm...yes, fanfiction. *happy sigh* My only solace to what has been happening as of late.

Re Amy and River: well, technically, River came before Amy so Amy's story had already been done. River got there first...or last...IDK!

This is all I have left to say to Moffat:

Edit: to many "yeah...."s. Stupid OCD....lol

And for things you never thought you'd enjoy!

My brain hurt yesterday from all of Moffat's madness so I went and watched Classic Who and played video games. Then browsed on Teaspoon and Big Finish for five hours. Such joy....

So I can confess that once I made my edit I realized that I used the wrong "to" form (should have been "too") and although it bothered me to no end, I thought I had bombarded you with too many edit emails and choose to leave as is? Oh, the grammar shame! lol

(Love the icon, btw, although I'm not sure if what it says is a good thing....)

And sometimes, just sometimes, for porn. Because we all need a bit of it in our lives ;) hahaha.

Sounds gorgeous. Wish I had enough spare time to do all that :P

Aw, don't stress. This IS the internet. And if I didn't notice it, as an English Major, don't sweat it yeah? ;)

Yeah it's a brilliant icon - a bit scary in some ways but still brilliant. At least it doesn't say "Twilight" right? I'd crack up big time.

Teh internets are for porn after all. No arguments from me. lol

Mmm, spare time. It was a Sunday evening with a massive case of writer's block and too much traumatic brain injury. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been there. Of course, I had my credit card in hand for BF, trying to remind myself that rent was going to be a regular occurrence soon, while saving a huge amount of fics to be read....someday.... Right.

I'll try not to, but no promises. And why is everyone an English major around here anyways? lol.

I have been warned off of Twilight for various reasons but I may just choke on it a dozen pages in if I ever tried. I think I've banned it from my consciousness. Twilight what now?

Omg, you even have an Avenue Q icon to go with the quote. Much love!

Ahhh I see. I forget oftentimes that I'm a half day ahead at least of half the world :P

Haha love. Fair enough too, I don't know what I used to do without comment editing-ness!

EVERYONE is an English Major. It's a conspiracy! Although technically mines a double Major in English/Creative Writing and Theatre/Drama so...

Oh god. If you've managed to escape it STAY AWAY. The time I spent reading those books are hours I'LL NEVER GET BACK AGAIN. I kind of equate reading them to watching a car accident - it's AWFUL. It's terrible and horrible BUT YOU JUST CAN'T LOOK AWAY. YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEEEEEXT. It's also kind of like reading quite terrible Mary Sue fanfiction with every trope in the book magnified by ten thousand as well though which makes it even more horrifying.

The only good thing, I feel, about this book series, its only truly redeeming feature (which is sad) is that because I've read it I can complain about it to other people :P especially all the batshit insane fangirls who think it's the ducks guts. I have honestly had a conversation with a 15yo girl with a Twilight shirt which basically went like this:

Me: Oh god, Twilight? Really?
Her: OMG I LOVE TWILIGHT SO MUCH *DIES AND HAS FANGIRLGASM WITH SPARKLY HEARTS*
Me: Maaan. Hating on Twilight so bad right now...
Her: Nooooo how can you say thaaaat? You can't say that it's bad!
Me: I've read the books. Have you?
Her: ...no.
Me: EXACTLY. QUIET NAO PLZTHX.

That said she probably would've loved the books. Ahafjjglkfab. WHY.

/ end unexpected Twilight rant

*tires hard not to go into huge fits of laughter at Twilight rant during work hours*

OMG, that is the funniest thing I've heard all bloody day! (So it's only 1130 where I am, it still counts!). ROFLMAO at "*DIES AND HAS FANGIRLGASM WITH SPARKLY HEARTS*" SPARKLY HEARTS! LOL!

*dies of laughter*

Anyway....yeah...English major conspiracy. Well, at least I read my Greek and Roman mythology! Ha! And I will predict your every thought with my awesome psychology powers! ....I know, very unimpressive. lol.

!!! Avenue Q love?! It's so hard to find these days...best thing ever. I listen to the soundtrack on my worst days so I can remind myself that it isn't that bad really...

Hmm, I think I have an icon for this too.

LOLLLL. Glad I could make you smile :D honestly though, that's what a lot of them are like! Terrifying.

I've always adored Greek mythology. Roman I'm not quite so savvy on but I can usually correct the boy when he uses the wrong name for a god or goddess :P

My cousin has just started Psych! There you go.

It's terribly irreverent and a bit inappropriate for most places that I frequent but I do think that it's spectacularly clever and very, very funny.

It is much appreciated! Thank you! :D

Have I ever told you that I love you? lol. Greek mythology is so twisted, fucked up, and absolutely mental that it takes a different type of mind to appreciate it. I mean, Aphrodite being born out of Zeus' sperm? Or the whole Orestia? And I'll admit that the names can be confusing but, on a whole, I stick with the Greek ones. Athena sounds so much better than Minerva, or Ares and Mars, Zeus and Jupiter...list goes on and on.

Psych, English, and Political Science: the three most useless and overused undergrad degrees. Still, if you go past the bachelor level you could really do something with it.

Avenue Q is pretty much all of those things but it doesn't stop me from thinking it. For the record I usually do take the stairs. ;)

You're so welcome.

I've always loved Greek mythology - and I like their names better too! Bloody Romans :P

Yeah I hear you. The amount of people who have asked what I'm going to do with my useless degree is quite staggering and a little disheartening lol. But I'm hoping to go on and do Honours next year potentially so we'll see where it goes.

Hahahaha. Nice!

Oi! I love my Romans, they just had some weird Mythological names. Then again they do have Ovid and Vergil. Plus, the Greeks were strange militarily/politically anyway.

I remember sitting through my graduation and I was in the Classics department so I went first. Of course, I'm a good person and decided to wait an extra two hours while everyone else graduated instead of skipping out. Sitting through those three departments...OMG, I wish someone had killed me! Too many people!

(Mostly because I hate asking for someone to hold the elevator for me. lol)

There are some good Roman names I suppose, but I've never been as fond :P

Aw, that sucks. Good on you for staying though! Most people would've probably skipped out :P
