This is My Brain

Sherlock: Listen. *he points at his head* This is my hard drive, and it only makes sense to put things in there that are useful. Really useful. Ordinary people fill their heads with all kinds of rubbish. That makes it hard to get at the stuff that matters. Do you see?

Yes, yes, and YES! That's how I feel precisely, Sherlock!

Well, actually, I've described, on more than one occasion, that my brain acts as more of a computer processor than anything else. It likes to have more than one thread going on at any given time (ie thought process), usually around three threads going at one time. It's all rather Freudian, in a way, as you'll see in a minute. I've normally got one thread working on my present task, be it work, writing a post, or reading, as a secondary post, easily grasped and swapped into the main thread, is usually working on a long standing issue like a piece of fic I want to write, something I need to do when I get out of work, or even a video game puzzle I haven't figured out yet, and then the last thread is on a subconscious level, really the id of me. It worries constantly, about things I can never really understand, but it keeps me down and ragged. That's where my underlying anxiety problems come from. Damn you id.

I loved this quote from Sherlock, which I finished up this weekend and absolutely fell in love with it. I'm also rather sure that I shouted for joy at that bit, plus his whole "bored now" gun blasting. Awesome. I've even got my mom and her boyfriend into the series and had a good discussion on the fifty-fifty chance at the end of "A Study in Pink". It's really not 50-50, at least until you get to a certain number, and I'm sure Sherlock knew that. Pity we never truly knew if he was right (which of course he was).

Anyway, right, into bed with me. Another late night. At least I feel accomplished at having done something (responding to emails/comments) today and read a few decent fics as well. I also took a nap after grinding for a few levels in FFXIII.

Right. Bed. Into it. Under covers. No, brush teeth first. And, most importantly, don't think about work in eight hours. Instead think of tea.

Mmm, tea.
