Maybe… I should… Kris brushed his hands through his hair, his face crinkling up as he held the electric razor in his other hand. He had the entire day free, as Adam was out with Brad most of the day; he figured to fix himself back up while he had the chance.
Kris sighed, and in the end just decided to trim the shorter parts back down, shaving the stubble coloring his jaw and chin, and got dressed for when Adam came home. He still wasn’t quite ready to take away any part of his shell but… soon, he thought. He plucked at the plaid shirt he was wearing over his t-shirt with a soft smile. I… I do want to be able to go without all of this but…
He felt the smile fade a little as he fell back onto the couch, flipping the hem of the shirt back and forth between his fingers as he thought. But… when that happens… I-I think I’m going to have to depend on Adam for a long time. He seems fine about those kind of things now but when I’m doing it all the time… Would he get fed up with it… with me? He swallowed, the thought of stripping away the walls he knew a lot scarier with that idea.
No, Adam wouldn’t do that. He loves me, and he… he wouldn’t…
And exactly how sure are you of that? He could just be pacifying you, leading you on until he gets what he wants. That’s what they all do, you know that.
Kris sighed, squeezing his eyes shut and leaning back, pushing the negative thoughts away as far as he could, drawing everything good in his life as close to the surface as he could. He smiled softly when he saw Adam; his eyes, his smile, the freckles sprayed over every inch of skin, that nervous, trusting look at Kris as he knelt above him. Everything about Adam; every look and taste and sound and breath. With a final deep gulp of air, Kris slipped back across the cushions, letting the peace and calm lull him to sleep until Adam came back.
“Kris! I’m back. Kris?”
Kris was stretching out across the couch when Adam came around the corner, his head tilted back so Adam could see Kris’ brown eyes flicking open once he finished, a small smile forming his lips. “Hey.” He stretched his arms out toward Adam, scooting back to make room for him.
Adam chuckled softly and set down the bags in his hands before moving over. “So I’m going to be the little spoon?”
Kris hummed, enveloping Adam in his arms when he settled down, hugging himself to Adam’s back. “So… how was your day with Brad?”
Adam shrugged. “Not bad. A little crazy like it usually is, but yeah, fun.” He leaned down enough to press kisses to Kris’ arms. “Missed you, though.”
Kris grinned, pressing his smile into Adam’s back, feeling a little giddy at the knowledge that Adam was missing him while he was out with his friends. See? He does care about me. He cares enough to miss me.
They spent a few moments curled up like that, quiet, Adam’s even breaths soothing enough that Kris started to doze off again. He was just about there when Adam turned in his arms, a huge, goofy grin on his face when Kris opened his eyes, and gave him a soft, sleepy kiss. Mmm… Kris melted back into the cushions, following those sweet, full lips every time Adam moved back at all.
When they parted for breath, Adam just smiled at him, his blue eyes dark and half-lidded, warm fingers skating along his jaw, thumb pressing in against his bottom lip. He moaned softly when Kris’ tongue swept across the tip, tasting warm skin, blue eyes glaring at him playfully. “Tease…” He pulled his hand away, trailing his thumb back over his lip and down his chin, then wrapped his arms around Kris and flipped them so Kris was on top of him, his body squishing into Adam’s from the taller man’s arms still coiled around him.
Kris - who did not squeal or squeak or anything as they were getting flipped - pouted down at Adam then trailed his nails down Adam’s sides, grinning when Adam squirmed and bit his lip. “Stoppit.” Kris smirked.
“You know…” He leaned down, snaking a hand under Adam’s shirt and lightly tracing figures into his skin, watching as Adam seemed to be fighting between bursting into giggles and moaning. He leaned even further down so his lips were right by Adam’s ear. “It’s not teasing if I mean it.”
Adam gasped softly as Kris nipped at his ear, arching up into him, his hands tightening around Kris. He licked his lips, watching as Kris watched the movement with lust filled eyes, then smirked. “Prove it.”
Kris grinned, lifting up enough to strip Adam’s shirt off. He licked his lips, making a show of it, enjoying how Adam groaned, and went to work proving just how much not-a-tease he was.
“Hey mom.” Adam smiled, watching as Kris sat across the room from him, holding a bundle of warm, fresh-out-of-the-dryer clothes and making a lot of happy, content noises. So cute. “I was wondering if you would be able to drop by sometime soon, there’s someone I want you to meet.”
Kris looked up at grinned at him, snuggling in more in all the shirts and jeans, making him giggle. Leila chuckled from the other end. “Really? A boyfriend?” He hummed and Kris finally let the clothes drop back into the basket with a slight pout and started actually straightening them up and folding them on the seat beside him. Leila’s voice went a little more serious. “You haven’t seemed to want me to meet any of your other boyfriends, ever since that one…” He flinched automatically at the mention of that-one, then smile again watching Kris. “When did you meet him?”
“A little more than a month.”
“Oh.” Leila gasped a little. “Really? And you want him to meet me already? I mean, Adam, this is a little… quick, for you, don’t you think?”
He chuckled. “Nah, I think… it’s just about right…” He took a last, long glance over Kris before he turned and started walking off for a bit more privacy. “It’s, I just think it’ll be good.” He dropped his voice a bit. “He’s had a bit of a rough time, especially with his family, and I think meeting you and having someone to sort of… help him through this should be good for him.”
His mother was quite for a moment, before Adam heard her smiling voice through the line. “Alright. I’ll see if there’s something I can do.” He heard the rustling of papers on the other end. “I have a few appointments that I can’t move for the next few days, but I’m free Friday.”
“Good.” Adam smiled; Friday gave them plenty of time. “Friday’s good.” He turned back around, catching Kris watching him with a small, happy smile before he picked up the basket of now-folded clothes and moved past Adam to their room, pausing to give him a long kiss. “I’ll see you then, thanks, Mom.”
They quickly said their goodbyes before Adam hung up, pushing his phone back into his pocket and biting his lip, looking back to where Kris was. This is going to be good for him, it’s not too soon. He let out a breath and moved back to the room, grinning and coiling his arms around him from behind and watching Kris’ smile grow in the mirror on the dresser. “Hey.”
He kissed Kris’ ear, squeezing a little tighter when the smaller man giggled and thrashed his head around a little. “Hey.” He settled his chin on Kris’ head, watching those big, brown eyes look up at him in their reflection. “I, uh…” Gotta tell him now; the sooner I tell him the better. “I talked to my mom, and she says she’s gonna drop by Friday.”
He felt Kris tense up a little, that smile disappearing. Uh oh. “What if…” He bit into his lip and looked down, picking at the dresser. “What if she doesn’t like me?”
Adam automatically rolled his eyes. “Trust me, that won’t be a problem.” He dropped his head, nuzzling into Kris’ neck, kissing him there, too. “You make me happy, and you’re a good person. You seem to have a bit of a protective streak with me, when I told you about Hayden.” He grinned when he saw Kris’ jaw tighten. “See, you both share a mutual dislike for him, and you both love me. You already have so much in common.”
Kris looked up into the mirror again, arching a brow at him. “Are you teasing me?”
Adam grinned and nipped at Kris’ neck, waggling his eyebrows. “Maybe…” He wiggled his fingers across Kris’ stomach, holding on as he shifted around in his arms. “You want me to tease you?”
Kris smirked at him in the mirror, before he sighed and melted back into Adam, frowning a little. “I just… I don’t want to screw this up…”
You won’t, baby, I know it. Adam shook his head at him, bringing a hand up to turn Kris’ head back. “I know everything’s going to be okay.” He grinned. “My mom’s going to love you, my friends are going to love you, and you are going to be the best boyfriend I’ve ever had according to everyone who matters, I promise.”
Kris bit his lip again, smiling when Adam just had to give in to temptation and kiss him. He let out a breath once they parted and shook his head. “I…” He closed his mouth, grimaced, then nodded. “Yeah…”
He’s going to believe it someday. Adam brushed his thumb across Kris’ jaw, watching Kris’ skin catch. I’ll spend every day showing him, making him see… Adam felt his lips curling slowly, and then he just had to duck down and press his lips to Kris’ again. Let’s start here…
“Adam?” Kris paused, staring at himself in the mirror, half of his mask in place with one eye lined in dark black and his hair messy and looking absolutely wrecked. “What’s Brad like?”
Adam ducked in the room, watching Kris and seeing the nerves in how his shoulders were hunched and his hands were shaking. He let out a breath and moved up behind Kris, getting to work at massaging away the tension in his neck and shoulders. “He’s a little crazy… but he’s a good guy. He can be a bit much at times, but… I think he’s going to like you.”
Kris smiled softly. “Kay…” He shook his head. “Sorry I’m just…” He took a deep breath in, then out, and went to lining the other eye. “I’m not used to meeting new people especially…” He paused, his eyes going a little wide. “Especially friends of my boyfriend, and…” He grinned. “Calling you my boyfriend, by the way, awesome.”
Adam laughed, leaning down to kiss Kris’ head, feeling the muscles under his hands slowly relax. “Mmm, I totally get where you’re coming from, boyfriend.”
Kris rolled his eyes, finishing up the eyeliner and looking at himself in the mirror, his smiling fading away a little. “I haven’t…” His eyes went a little wide again, a little bit of awe there mixed with fear. “I haven’t really… looked like this for a while… have I?”
That’s true… Adam leaned down, his face next to Kris’ in the mirror. The last time he went full out like this was… Whoa… Last time was that first date we went on. “Yeah.” He brushed a thumb along Kris’ cheek, pushing up and smudging the eyeliner a little. He looks like a completely different person. But… he still needs to do this… He turned his head, pressing a kiss to Kris’ cheek, squeezing his shoulder. “You about ready?”
Kris blinked, then nodded. “Yeah, just… shoes.” He shook himself a bit and winced, looking up at Adam. “I… need a bit of time to myself, too…”
Adam nodded, squeezing him one last time before leaving the bathroom, letting the door shut behind him. He heard Kris breathing heavily inside soon enough, and he closed his eyes. Hoping for everything to go well, then taking a breath and going out to wait for Kris.
This is actually… kind of fun. Kris found himself laughing hard enough that he’d start tipping over into Adam, clutching his sides, getting a large, warm hand running through his hair for it. He’d been nervous at first, but within the first five minutes of meeting Brad it had been, well, insanity. Brad had dragged them all over the club they’d decided to meet at, and told Kris all these hilarious, crazy stories, and he’d kept a non-stop smile on Kris face ever since they’d met.
“I like him.” Kris leaned up to tell Adam when Brad bowed out with a roguish wink in their direction to get them drinks. “He’s overwhelming, in a good way.”
Adam chuckled. “That’s Brad.” He grimaced a little, grinning a little more. “And, fair warning, he goes a little crazy with his drinks.” Kris looked up and felt both his eyebrows shoot up when he saw radioactive looking glasses in Brad’s hands. Adam laughed beside him. “I promise to take care of you in the morning.”
You’re already taking care of me now. Kris smiled to himself and leaned into Adam, feeling himself warm up with a flood of happiness when Adam curled an arm around him. “You two are adorable.” Brad cooed while he divvied out the drinks, settling into the booth across from them with his his chin on his hands and looking almost like a cartoon. After a moment he sighed, smiling and taking a mouthful of the neon green drink, making Kris look down at his curiously. “I’m just so glad you're here to stop Adam from being all emo.”
He felt Adam shift under him then Brad yelped and he looked up. “I was not being emo!” Adam laughed. “I was just…” He picked up his glass and shrugged. “Being sensible… after getting my heart broken so many times.”
Kris felt his own heart crack a little when he caught the moment of sadness and hurt on Adam’s face. I oughta track that prick down and murder him. He huffed and took a sip from the drink, then blinked and looked into it. “This is sweet.” He smacked his lips and looked up to see Adam giving him a dubious look and Brad grinning. “I actually kind of like it.”
“Ha!” Brad crowed and settled back in his seat, staring over at Adam seriously - as serious as you could get with a giant, cat-like grin on your face. “I am never going to doubt your taste in men again. I am so fucking love him already.”
Adam rolled his eyes as he took a sip, then grimaced at the drink before he laughed when Kris scooted up and licked a stray drop from the glass, catching his thumb along the way. “Hey!” Blue eyes turned down to huge, innocent brown eyes, narrowing at the crooked smile Kris wore. “I thought we said no teasing.”
Kris chuckled and snuggled in again, licking his lips and tasting a mix of salt from Adam’s skin and the sweet, apple flavor of the drink. He scooted up enough to whisper in Adam’s ear, smirking all the while. “I thought I said it’s not teasing if I mean it.”
Adam sputtered, setting his drink down and shaking his head, glaring over at Kris. “You are evil.”
They stared each other down for a few more moments before Brad spoke up, slapping his hands down on the table. “Welp, I can see that I’m just being a third wheel here.” He grinned and waved at them as he stood up, drink in hand. “I’ll leave you two to your… devices.” He winked then leaned down to give Kris a quick hug and peck on the cheek, leaving him blinking. “Nice to meet you, lover boy.”
With that, Brad dashed away, disappearing into the crowd and leaving Kris blinking after him. “Um…”
Adam grinned. “Well…” He squeezed Kris into him, making him heat up all over and his breath hitch. “Looks like you two get along pretty well.” There was a beat, and then Adam’s hand squeezing his shoulder, and warm lips tickling at his ear. “Now, I’ve been thinking about taking you home ever since we got here… How about we…”
Kris was up and out of the booth and draining his glass before anything else, Adam doing the same before dragging him out of the club, pressing him up against the side of Adam’s car and pressing their mouths together, sticky-sweet and possessive. Kris groaned, arching up into him, not thinking about how possessiveness would’ve been something bad for him a few weeks ago, or how Adam’s hands gripping his hips enough to leave bruises and marking him would’ve set him off, made him drag his walls back up. He just moved with Adam, gripping back, marking Adam and making him moan and kiss him more. All he thought of was how perfect Adam was, the blood thrumming and pulsing with Adam’s every move. Mine…
