A question to the parents out there...

I don't have a bad driving record, I have not gotten any speeding tickets recently, and I have a new insurance policy on my car.  I would like to think that I am a good driver.  As a matter of fact, I'm rather paranoid about driving because I hate it so much, and am scared to death about getting into an accident.

My only offence - that I can think of - is that I have a old car.

I have been working for the Hermanns for over a year now, and Cindy STILL won't let me take Jack on outings.  She won't even consider it!  Yesterday, she asked me if I knew about a certain park in Birmingham.  When I told her that I didn't, and she started to describe it to me, I was curious as to why she was telling me about someplace I would have to drive Jack to.  Then she said that maybe sometime she could drive me and Jack to the park and pick us up after a few hours.  And, she was talking in that way that means that NOTHING is up for discussion.

I was so hurt, and stunned.  There was nothing I could say to plead my case for taking Jack there, myself.

I have had other nanny jobs where the parents told me to take their kids places in my car.  And this was only after knowing the families a few months.  I have known the Hermanns for over a YEAR and they are still treating me as if I ride my bike to work!

What's up with this?  For those of you who are parents out there, what do you think?  Am I crazy for wanting to take Jack on outings?  I have friends who are parents and their kids are close to Jack's age.  All I want to do is go on play dates... maybe to the Zoo, or the mall, or something.

Is it me, or is it Mrs. Hermann?

I really need some positive feed back here, I am SO upset about this.  It's driving me to want to quit, but this is my only job right now.
