And they wonder why the club has cliques and fueds?

At the end of each year's Learn To Row classes, all the new rowers get to race in a regatta. My regatta, the one I am running this weekend. Except that this year, there was an odd number, so they chose one woman and she doesn't get to race. See ya, better luck next year.

This is the woman who has been rowing with the Intermediates and killing herself to keep up.

This is the woman who stepped in when the t-shirt guy dropped the ball.

And the coaches are doing nothing.

It kills me. It kills me to think how disappointed she must be, even though she is putting a good face on it. I can think of a bunch of other options, and it kills me to think they weren't explored.

There are a couple of clubs who wanted to scratch boats because they didn't have enough rowers. I'm trying to get her a seat in one of them. It wouldn't be the same as rowing with her own team, but at least she would get to row.

If that doesn't work, I'm going to see if I can put together a boat for her of experience rowers who rarely race. They might come out of "retirement" so the poor thing won't be disappointed.

I don't know if I can succeed, but I'm going to try. After nearly 5 months of work, she deserves to race.
