Yesterday my college buddy Arthur came into town for a visit. Unfortunately, his wife didn't come with him, but it was great to see him.
We started with lunch down at Ted's Montana Grill. Bison burgers - yum! Then we spent all afternoon wandering the Short North. There were several stores I'd never been in. It was especially fun to look at antiques with Art as he knows really different things than I do. There were some antique clothing stores, too. It's hard to believe someone wore some of those clothes ever, let alone might want to do so again. We walked from the Arena to Campus and back again. Much fun, though my shoulders are sunburned from the walk.
Finally we ended up at the Burgundy Room for tapas and wine. I had a champagne I liked a lot, lots of vanilla and yeast. There's something decadent about champagne on a Saturday afternoon. After dinner we came back to my place and hung out in the living room.
I got up this morning and made a vast breakfast, with more bacon than even Art could eat. More hanging out, and he's just headed back to Cleveland.
It was really cool to hang out with someone who has known me for ages. Much gossip, much laughter, much food. Friends are good!
