Oh, hey. I have an LJ. Maybe I should post to it sometimes?
Bits and pieces (but not the whole):
Life is still wall-to-wall busy, but as of Thursday last week*, things have begun to settle down, and I am, surprisingly and gratifyingly, content. I have a new part-time job as research assistant to one of my English Literature professors, I've decided to write a degree dissertation and I'm really excited about my topic, I've taken up cooking and baking as a means of procrastination--with a vengeance!, and I've been enjoying my courses and the company of my friends. Life is good.
*When I held my first dinner party. It was for only four guests, but still. Three courses, all new recipes, all from scratch, and all reportedly tasty. I'm pretty well pleased with how it turned out. Also, I managed to pull it off despite not having slept the previous night. Yeah. (Oh, essays. How much I will not miss you after this year is done.)
*
Today was 'The Knight's Tale' Day in my Chaucer course**. Of course I was the one to deliver a homoerotic reading of the text. Of course***. (I wore my My Girlfriend Can Totally Beat Up Your Girlfriend shirt for the occasion. I had fun. <3 <3 <3 Chaucer!)
**Which is full of unappreciative underclassmen fulfilling their degree prerequisites. Come on, people! Show some enthusiasm!
...bloody undergraduates.
***Seriously. It's so obvious. Also, poor Emelye! As I said to my professor--who agreed with alacrity--all she wants to do is to run away and join the fabulous lesbian commune, but no-one will let her. *hugs her*
And because today was 'The Knight's Tale' Day, it was also Queynte Day. I've been waiting for Queynte Day for so long! Of course I was the one to translate 'queynte' for the class. Of course.
...bloody undergraduates.
Happily, my Chaucer professor is amazing ('Queynte, queynte, queynte, queynte, queynte!'), and does her best to cancel out the other students' apathy regarding the material. Even more happily, she is my new degree advisor. She's fantastic; I love her so, so much.

And I'm shirking my studies tomorrow--now today, I suppose--in favour of wandering about the city! I will wear my new grey dress that makes me feel like Elizabeth Burke (always a good thing), and my Bondgirl boots, and I will visit museums and wander the streets and buy Italian 00 flour with which to make my own pasta.
I hope that it will be a wonderful day.
