I've just been for a swim, but since the council has made it free for those under 16s and over 60s, the entire pool is filled with every person, under the age of 16 or over 60, that resides in Halifax. Very frustrating and slightly worrying, with every stroke I almost ploughed into a small child or elderly person.
The diving boards were open however, so after 30 lengths I decided to jump from the high dive.
I felt so Big and Brave; I scoffed at the children before me!! Pah!! I've Jumped Out of Planes, this is Easy! This is Nothing! This is... really Fucking High!!!!
oh.
heart.pounding.adrenalin.rushing.
The life guard is grinning at me clutching on to the side rail ('it's higher than it looks' I squeak) a small child hoots up at me 'GO ON JUMP!! GO ON!!!' so I did. Less cannon ball morag, more Hiroshima morag. But fun. Small child then leaps off, and swims over to me 'were you scared?' Yes, yes I was - was he? 'Naaaaah!'
The courage of seven year olds.
In non-wimp news: I have a new phone. Oooooh!!! Same number but I'll actually be able to receive messages AND then reply. Instead of just using my mobile as an oddly shaped alarm clock.
