On Saturday I snorkelled with nurse sharks and sting rays! The sting rays were everywhere, gliding underneath me in a kaleidiscope of long tails, graceful wings, and ancient eyes. I will never forget that experience.
Tomorrow I'm going to the Belize zoo! I will see monkeys, jaguars, tapirs, birds... should be cool.
In other news, I'm in love with rastas and their dreds and their sweet smell and their relaxedness. I'm totally coming back to Belize. But at the same time I say that, I changed my flight today to come home one week early. I'm coming back, but I'm not staying long you know what I mean? :)
I love that people are so friendly here. They always say hi when you pass them in the streets. I'm greeted every day by a chorus of "good day"s from the respectable, "hey baby"s from the men young and middleaged, "taxi lady"s from the voracious taxi drivers who assume a white woman means a woman in need of a lift. It's fun to be able to walk past anyone and get a huge smile.
I have no news of the Tree of Doom to relate today. Luckily I've steered clear of it since my last update. I nearly had a run-in today but luckily my afternoon drinking buddies feared the eminent rain and so drank inside.
