On drinking:

Since I decided to 'get things under control', I've been surprisingly able to do so. I went a couple weeks without drinking at all. I've only been drunk twice in the last few weeks, both times under special circumstances in which being drunk was, if not appropriate, then at least acceptable. I've had one drink (a glass of wine) by myself and have been sociably tipsy on a couple of ocassions. There have been a handful of opportunities to drink that I've chose not to take advantage of. All in all, I feel that my relationship to alcohol is finally (nominally) healthy. I'm more than a little pleased with that.

I've been spending a lot less time alone, as well. I'm not sure if this is because I've been drinking less, but it has helped. The times where I have to actively resist going to the liquor store are the times when I've been sitting by myself for hours. I can proudly say that I have not once waivered in this matter. My depression level is way down, I feel healthier, and I'm eating better. Now if I could only quit smoking...
