Here's to the most exciting christmas ever

So I had a strange christmas.

It started at 11:45pm on Christmas eve when Tim and I exchanged presents. My horde from the boy included a NEW portable CD player, an adorable fruits basket t-shirt, a cd holder for my car with Jack Skellington on it, Full Metal Alchemist posters and the best part of all, a sapphire with two little diamonds set in white gold for my left hand. My parents thought the ring was prudy too.

Next day, 9am Tim, Nick, Corin and I suited up to give his mom her christmas present. We all attended mass. None of us wanted to be there. It was a born again christian service. I was fine with the songs and the swaying but when they got to the heathens burning in hell for not seeing christ speech i got pissed. But it ended eventually. And then we went back to his mother's house where she proceeded to give me a cross necklace and a book of Christian palsms and verses. Reminded me of the presents my aunts gave me for christmas. Sigh*

Then after that we trekked over to my parents for christmas dinner, which was yummy. Cornish game hens, mmm. Got some nice little gifts from ze parents, including this really fluffy sweater than is insanely comfortable and $200 bucks for my internship so I don't starve. Yay! Dad nearly ruined the festivities by trying to control my life again. I smoothed it over by telling him we would talk about it another day, aka I have to call him later today. I need to make him understand somehow that I am an adult and he can't keep his foot so thoroughly in the door if he expects me to grow. He has to relax and realize I will go to him if i need him.

Still while I was at my parents house the day got really exciting, so exciting it involved the police, the fire department, an ambulance, an rescue squad and a whole slew of vehicles parked on our front lawn. Why? Well while we were eating dinner, Lorraine looks at the window, (2pmish) and sees a canoe floating from up stream. The rive is half frozen so the current is narrowed and faster than usual. As the boat gets closer and closer, we realize there is no one in it, or is there? We break out the binoculars and see there is someting oddly shaped in the boat. Okay. My dad and I trek outside to here the neighbor up river calling the cops. Yeah sound travels real easy on the water. So ten minutes later the boat is in our backyard and there is obviously something in it and soon our yard is swarming with the Po and they break out the rescue craft and the wet suits and trek on over to discover the canoe is filled with very expensive equipment for duck hunting, a chair, a life jacket, and AND half a cup of coffee, which hadn't curdled yet. But there was no gun and no person. Their deduction.

Hunter in the Water.

This means they have to hand it over to the state police because the river spans too many towns and they may have to go trawling. So yeah. Exciting christmas. Eeire

After the cops left, we went to my uncles, who I hadn't seen in a year. this is the normal pattern. It was surprisingly pleasant this year. John has finally settled down with a lady friend and they live in a converted boxcar. Cool. I even got some quality presents from my uncle who seemed to be trying to make up for all the years he was a complete ass. Both Marks were there, uncle and cousin. Uncle is medicated still for Schizophrenia. Little Mark is tall as ever, looks like a blond version of Marilyn Manson and had fun chatting with me in the corner. I always forget how he looks until I see him again. He loved my purple hair. We sat and talked and my uncles raised eyebrows at my and Tim and our engagement and John cried a little how his favorite niece is all grown up. Sigh. He missed most of my teen years anyway.

But it was nice and we left on good terms. And maybe i might see them before the next holiday. So that was my christmas. The good the bad and the eerie. Hope everyone had a good one and I will be in New York in a couple of Days for Anna's b-day and to Visit Lynne and Jake in Lechworth!!!

Cheers.
