in character information.
series: Iron Man 2, Marvel Movieverse.
name: Natasha Romanoff.
sex: Female
age: Twenty-seven.
race: Human.
height: 5’4”.
weight: 131lbs.
canon point: In Iron Man 2, Natasha works undercover at Stark Enterprises as Natalie Rushman - it’s not until the scene in the donut shop where she injects Tony and shows up in her SHIELD uniform that she is revealed as an agent. I’m going to take her from before the reveal so that as far as she’s concerned Tony never learned she was an agent, and she will see her assignment as unfinished.

history:
http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Natasha_Romanoff It is clear from her young age and her skill level that she has been working in similar roles for a long time, either groomed or programmed - and this is where I take from the comics and work with the Red Room theory. She was taken by the Russian government because she was an orphan and placed in the Red Room program and brainwashed to believe she was learning and being trained in ballet when really she was being trained in how to be an assassin.
personality:
In the film, Natasha is probably best described as unreadable. She is purposely making herself an enigma and perhaps it’s something she finds hard to let go of. She doesn’t want anyone becoming close to her, or getting to know her - or Natalie - however she uses her feminine wiles to keep the attentions of Tony Stark on her so that she will be able to remain close to complete her mission.
Natasha is the type of agent and woman that will do a job to the best of her ability. If she has a goal, she will achieve it with any means necessary.
She has a tendency to come across as very serious and not at all jovial or light-hearted, but I honestly believe that’s not all she is. She does have a fun side, a side that allows her to laugh and enjoy herself, but when there’s an imminent danger or something that requires her full attention she will be all business. It’s only with the people she’s truly comfortable with that she will loosen up and choose to openly mix business with pleasure. Until then, her incredibly dry humour can sometimes be missed if you aren't looking for it. She will still use humour to cope with some of the worst parts of life, but it's not always an obvious crack like one that either Tony Stark, or Clint Barton would make.
It's her ability to separate business and personal that keeps her on task. An assumption that she is beyond caring, or beyond compassion is a misinterpretation of her dedication to the task at hand. She is the best at what she does simply because she does not care about the impression she makes. She is not there to make friends, she is not there to be popular. And the fact that she does believe she is the best at what she does can be her undoing. Egoism can occasionally get the better of her and become a weakness rather than a strength. When she is so set in her ways, and unable to be entirely flexible this is when she will fall into the hands of the enemy by stepping into a trap simply because she knows she will get out of it.
She believes in getting the job done quickly, but again this links back to her belief that she is the best. If she's expected a job to be quick and efficient she may not have always planned for all obstacles.
For all the death and destruction she has seen and been responsible for, I do not think she has given up on love or believes that she would be better suited to a life alone. She is a part of a government agency and works undercover so she is not going to be able to avoid people and forming connections. She may try to fight them, or deny them but they will be there. She is a mystery only because she is the one that likes to be in control of who knows what and when. Her currency is information and it extends to all aspects of her life. But once someone is invited in and has that trust she will always honour it.
Having said that, if a person crosses her, she will exact revenge. She will want them to understand that she is not a person to be crossed or someone that will forgive easily. And nor will she forget. She takes no pleasure in killing, but it is something she will not hesitate in given it is the life she has always known.

[There is a long pause as she simply sits there for a moment and eyes the camera as if it is an enemy.]
I do not know what you want me to say. I am hardly about to confess to my sins, and an introduction seems unnecessary. You will know me if I want you to.
[Her nostrils flare as she takes a breath and tucks a lock of red hair behind her ear.]
But if we are to be stuck together, I suppose it is only right for me to make friends. Play nice. Be honest. [The last word seems to catch in her throat as if it’s been a long time since she’s had to be so truthful, but when you’re prepared to get lose in another identity sometimes it’s easy to forget your own.] I am Natasha Romanoff, and the pleasure will hopefully be yours.
third person sample:
Natasha Romanoff was a woman used to waking up in a lot of different places.
Different cities.
Different hospitals.
Different beds.
But never could she claim to have woken up on a cold metal slab in a morgue before. She gasped for air, lungs aching as she arched up and let out a moan of protest. The light was too bright, the air burned, and her nerves spasmed with life.
She flexed her fingers as if it had been a long time since she’d used them and as if she couldn’t exactly remember how. She stilled again, relaxing back against the “bed” as she took a few moments to perform a mental diagnostic to check that her body was indeed in one piece.
The last thing to be flexed and tested were her toes, still adorned with clear nail polish. Apparently Natalie Rushman, Natasha’s latest cover liked to be spoiled. Though how her toes survived in the ridiculous heels she wore for the sake of being noticed was beyond her. In the strangest of ways it was a sudden relief to find herself in nothing but a hospital gown.
A hand moved to press against her side and then check her chest, almost like she was expecting to find stitches where they must have sewn her back together after the autopsy, or once the bullets were removed. But she could remember no fight, no cause to be dead in the first place. The fingers of her other hand moved again and it finally registered that she was clutching something.
A communication device.
Her first thought was not a pleasant one. She was already wondering why it had taken someone so long to do what she had done more than once - bury someone alive and leave them with so little option of escape.
But she wasn’t in a grave, she was, technically, able to escape. Morgues had doors, ways out. Morgues could be connected to hospitals or public buildings.
She sat up slowly and then shifted to cross her legs over so that she could get off the toe tag that was there. Alright, she had to give them points for that. They’d kept her sedated long enough for her to be tagged. But it couldn’t be SHIELD. It couldn’t be Stark. He wasn’t this evil, even if he was a unique breed.
Again, her mind only seemed to assume the worst and she was sure that that would at least keep her alive and kicking long enough to track down who was responsible and make them realise that even in a hospital gown with her ass showing she was not someone to be trifled with.
case no: No preference.
