im bored and avoiding having to cook, clean and decorate for christmas. 9 days left and we just got the tree up. still no decorations on it though. indian standard time, is all i have to say. in india, we would have been right on schedule doing all this crap now. (granted, the "christmas season" also continues a lot longer AFTER christmas than it does here.) my mom tried to get all fussy about how late we were this year and i told her that we were returning to our roots. she found that answer less amusing than i did.
so this past weekend was kindof a lot of fun. Brittney came down from Ottawa on friday. we came back here and slept for a few hours, and then we went shopping. i bought LOTS of stuff. $10 shoes, $2 tank tops, good time had by all but my bank account. the original plan was to get a movie, veg and drink ourselves stupid long into the night, but no sooner did we open the bottle of Bailey's did we both just want to go out and party. movie? well, neither of us were in the mood anymore. Luckily, just at that moment, a very, very drunk Piers called. we were ready, out the door and on the road in under 15minutes, making it roughly midnight. so, we finally get there, (there being some shady bar called Brigadoon out in scarberia where the average age of the regulars was twice mine and a third of the men there looked homeless) and frittered the night away playing pool and playing more pool and talking and drinking. i think i might be an alcoholic. or if im not, i very soon will be. also, in terms of WHAT i like to drink, my tastes have expanded greatly. ie. before: i used to not be able to drink dark beers without gagging. after: i like stout and dark beers. namely guinness and keith's red. there are a couple other things about that night which made it better than i thought it would be, but we'll leave that alone. i got home by 5am.
in other news, Lijing and i are going to see an Iron Maiden concert in March 08. very, VERY excited. we have shit seats, but seeing Maiden live? you'd have to be hellen keller to not enjoy the concert, assuming, of course, that you're a Maiden fan.
in other robynnfrivolouslyspendingmoneyonagoodtime news, my reading week is from Feb 11 to Feb 15. guess what February 18th is? well, it WOULD be the first day back from reading week, but being "family day" there are no classes. May the gods favour you, dalton mcguinty (and reserve a seat in the afterlife for you at the feet of Hades.) But enough about damnation. What am I doing, you ask? I am hopping on a bus and going 5hrs away to the land of Ottawa where inebriated revelry will ensue with all the hedonistic power it can harness. How excited am I? SO excited. This will be the longest vacation I've had since last Christmas. oh MAN am i ever psyched.
Anyway, i am being summoned to return to Christmas decorating.
Have a good one!
