there goes the neighborhood.

I just don't understand how uptight a person must be to call the cops on a neighbor for playing guitar in their own backyard at 5pm on a friday...saying it's disturbing the peace.

I also don't understand how the cop would show up. At least he agreed that it was a bullshit call to make...but I can't believe he did not go tell the person who called to stop wasting his time.

If you are someone who cannot respect a neighbor's harmless hobby, at least man-up and ask for the guitar player to stop for the time being, because god forbid they hear music in the yard next to theirs. Admit you are irrational. But I suppose it's much easier to call the cops on your neighbor and embarrass them, and break their heart and spirit.

I DO understand that my Dad is an incredible person. He is very talented with playing guitar--he just loves music. Sadly enough, playing the guitar today was the one simple thing that was bringing him joy when he's coping with his father-in-law surely passing away. His wife is fragile and trying her best to be strong for her mom and dying father. Meanwhile, my Dad is her rock. He's everyone's rock. His rock is his faith in life and he puts that into playing guitar.

I DO understand that my Dad definitely did not deserve that jerk move pulled by one of our neighbors. His music wasn't even that loud. I could faintly hear it inside the house. Faintly.

We have a sure-fire feeling of which neighbor made the call. And while they have played nice before, it's not gonna work anymore. I don't want their fakeness. I won't tolerate it. If given the confrontational opportunity (which probably won't happen b/c they were spineless enough to call the cops rather than asking Dad to not play guitar b/c that's such a horrible thing to do in the middle of the day) I will be sure to let them know that they broke his heart. That they broke my heart.
