Musings

I wish that I could live inside
The world so visibly defined
In the background of the portraits that you take
While blissfully awake

I wish that I could paint the clouds
That cloak the sky and muffle sounds
To give them hues that cause your heart to ache
Embellished for your sake

My earth-bound wish is heaven thrown
Before it plummets like a stone
It was not a wish that I was meant to make
Each troubled breath I take

Your mouth, your eyes are worlds away
My hands reach for you every day
And the lonely canyon echoes each heartbreak
My thirst will never slake
