When a young girl's heart turns to thoughts of fancy...
Okay, maybe not so young. I'm 28. Still young enough, though I suppose. When I mean "fancy," I mean "weddings," of course. I've found myself looking through pages of gowns and cakes and whatnot, not because I'm anywhere close to being engaged, but because every once in a while I like to fantasize about, if money were little or no object, what kind of wedding I'd like to have. And essentially, it's not really that time of year. It's the 4th of July. Not sure why our nation makes me think of weddings. Hm. Maybe it's just me. :)
I did this kind of post a while back, but I believe some of those links aren't working... so I'm constructing an all-new list. Plus, I think it's fun. :P
Overall theme: I still want an autumn wedding. I like the idea of being married during my favorite time of year. Not only that, but I believe I mentioned this last time--the whole landscape flatters me. What better time to be at my most beautiful? ;)
Ring:
sapphire and platinum! I'm allergic to gold, so that leaves me with Platinum. And I'm a big fan of sapphires, not so much so of diamonds.
Invitations:
Autumn-themed, of course.
I have a feeling if I really want to do a lot of the things I'm thinking of for a future wedding and not have to worry about ponying up all the money at once, I'm going to have to do a lot of it myself. These invitations are really pretty, but I'm thinking I could probably make them and some of the decorations myself. I guess it all depends on how many people would be coming... I know who would be invited on the bride's side, but there is the groom (whoever he may be) to consider.
Dress:
This is gorgeous. I love the drape, the chapel-length train, the corset back, the beading, the silhouette... everything. Just beautiful. There are a lot of other really pretty ones on this website in the plus-size section, but I'm drawn to this one for some reason. Maybe it's because I want to be the chick in it. She's quite stunning. ;-)
Oo, wait!
THIS one is a knock-out, too! I don't have the boobs for it, really, but I do like the split skirt and the train... wow. It's more expensive than the other dress, so if it was just money alone, I'd have to pick the other one... but I do like this one, as well. (Oh, and to anyone else browsing, there's a model on there who looks like Fergie, if she were to *gasp* gain 50 lbs. And grow 5". And stop looking like a little man wearing hair extensions.
Cake:
This is sort of the color palette I'm going for, but I like the idea of separate tiers... and I do want a chocolate cake. I'm not just talking chocolate on the inside. I'd like milk chocolate ganache on the outside, too.
Oo,
this one is even closer... it even has lilies on the top of it! I'd probably want more burgundy, though... since my colors are going to be forest green and merlot. And again, I want a chocolate cake on separate tiers.
Hmmm...
this one just about hits the mark.
Although... you should really read the list of flavors and such that
this company in Rhode Island puts in their wedding cakes...! To die for...
Bouquet:
Maybe something like
this...
I don't want sunflowers, I don't want black-eyed susans, I don't want gerber daisies. None of those types of flowers. I used to be against roses, but I'm starting to come around... a really deep red rose or a chocolate rose would be nice. I also want berries, berries, berries and curling velvet ribbons in forest green and merlot.
Bridesmaids:
I want all my bridesmaids to wear little
crowns with berries and ribbons and such... but I have a feeling the decorations are going to need to be fake. ;-)
I can't put up a picture of what my bridesmaids will wear because I'm letting them have the option of finding a dress. (I don't think it will be too big of a deal since my list of who would be in my wedding has sort of truncated itself from about 8 bridesmaids down to about 5.) Their restrictions are color (must be either merlot or forest green) and floor-length. I want my bridesmaids to be comfortable and feel pretty. They're going to be of varying sizes, so there's absolutely no sense in trying to put them in the same dress.
Hairstyle:
I'm actually not sure how I want my hair. I do know that I'm going to grow my hair until I get married, and it's already down to my shoulderblades. I'm pretty sure I'm going to straighten it and then maybe put some loose curls in it and then put some pretty shinies in it somewhere? I don't know if I'm going to want a veil or not.
Tuxedos:
I don't really know what I'd want the groom to wear, but I think I would shoot him if he decided on
this one.
Aaaaaaaaand... I'd want my cousin Kim to sing and my friend Graham to play at the reception and maybe my Uncle Mark to play organ/piano, like he did at my sister's wedding?
We'd have to see.
Anywho... that's enough for now... and I haven't even touched decorations... or jewelry... or shoes... or lingerie... or locations...
