9 vs. Nine
Just saw Nine, right before it saw 9.
While the name is kinda the same, the essence is so much different. To be frank the only similarity is in the fact that both are played on the same equipment.
Nine is a grotesque musical with ravishing women and great music. Not much beyond that, but so much of just that.
9 is a classic post apocalyptic story of spirituality battling technology. Actually it is one of the greatest modern fairy tales. In itself it combines: Hobbit, Matrix, Terminator, Treasure Island and The Wizard of Oz. The last attempt at such an epic undertaking was the cute, but forgotten work starring Macaulay Culkin: "The Pagemaster", but even that failed to bring a sci-fi perspective.
