So, the antidote for being depressed on Valentine's Day because you don't have a sweetheart is to cheer up everyone else who doesn't! I learned that giving out chocolates does this very nicely! I started out with cute containers for my housemates and smaller ones for the people working at the Restaurant, but I had the extra chocolates in my backpack which I shared with... the bus driver and the guys in the kitchen! Everyone was so tickled, I stopped at the drug store on the way home and bought more - sharing with everyone on the bus and everyone at the clubs I went to later with exthesuccubus and trichotomy! I did this back in law school, just because I wanted a more friendly relationship with everyone in my "section" of about two dozen students, and I remember that every single on of these - well, rather arrogant young people that I left tokens for - stopped to thank me, several very emotionally for the only valentine they got that day.
Not that I didn't have my sad and wistful moments, yesterday, but overall, it was the best Valentine's Day I ever spent being single!
The most romantic thing I heard all day award goes to -
West Wing, "17 People"
Josh: If you were in an accident, I wouldn't stop for a beer (in response to a story Donna tells him about an ex-boyfriend).
Donna: If you were in an accident, I wouldn't stop for red lights."
Aaron Sorkin
Watched as spiritual comfort food while eating Valentine special cake (rich dark chocolate goodness with fudgey chocolate covered strawberries) taken out from the Dane in between my post-work nap and going out, and giving rise to my only tears of the day.
