So today was moving day. Here I am stealing wireless internet from somebody else in the Rocket Factory. That's right, I got an apartment in the Rocket Factory. It's some kind of former commercial/industrial building they turned into loft apartments, I'm thinking of calling my apartment "Missile Command" although I will be accepting alternatives if they prove to be sufficiently awesome. You can look me up on google maps at 100 S. 4th St Brooklyn, NY 11211, you'll get an awesome view of the roof of the building. Speaking of which, though I happen to live at sidewalk level I do have access to the elevator which goes to the roof and a view of all of Manhattan, it's pretty bad ass, you should come see it. The neighborhood I'm living in is super hipster with tight jeans and lip piercings all over the place. The upside of this is lots of really cool cafes and funky stores. I may not be cool enough to live here but I'm going to pretend like I am.
Right now all I have is a pair of stools and an inflatable mattress that my sister gave me. And a single glass for the kitchen. Tomorrow is all about ordering up some furniture so I can actually unpack my boxes and have a livable space. However of course this is contingent on the landlord answering my phone calls. The people who lived here before just moved out yesterday and they did not clean this place at all. Gross gross gross is what it is. Broken tiles in the tub, pubes on the toilet, scraped paint all over the walls, crumbs and other food leavings in the fridge, and so on. I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay full rent for the next month unless they get somebody over here to clean it up, or at least give me some money for extra paint and cleaning supplies. Now I just need some small things. Like a job. And a roommate to help pay for rent. And my own internet. And furniture. And food. And a shower curtain. I think you get the idea.
As for the Burning Man experience, it was pretty crazy. I saw lots of hippy boobies, and a few naked middle aged men, along with tons of flamethrowers attached to vehicles pumping pounding techno and flashing neon lights. Really it's hard to describe in a post. Just ask me about it some time and I'll tell you all sorts of things that will fry your skull with awesome.
