Oh, for the love of Books!!

Nov 26, 2007 13:57

Well, I spent the morning at the Part Dieu shopping centre getting some essentials: I bought a pullie and a vest (cause it's freaking cold up here and I don't have enough pullies to keep me warm), my purse broke down last week, so I had to buy a new one, I didn't take my warm black panties with me from home, so I got some of those too, to take the pain away from my knees. I also went to pick up the ticket for the Apocalyptica gig that I ordered about a month ago. (Apocalyptica = love)

...and of course, to do that, I had to go to the FNAC. For the love of goth, keep me out of there. Books at three euros a pop is just too damn tempting. Today's catch:

- George Orwell : 1984
- JM Barrie : Peter Pan
- Oscar Wilde : The Picture of Dorian Gray
- Terry Pratchett : Wintersmith
- Joyce Carol Oates : The Female of the Species

I think I squealed when I stumbled upon the Oscar Wilde. I've always wanted to read that book, but I was never quite sure who wrote it. Finally, I can start obsessing properly about Dorian Gray, and not just imagine him as Stuart Townsend in a sorely disappointing movie... And oh, the love for Orwell! I read snippets of his book in my English course and was immediately intrigued. Here's hoping the rest of the book is as good as the snippets...

reflectingone, I'm glad your party was fun. And those who cancelled were just plain rude. I would've given a toe to be there...

tootsiemuppet,
hyel, I wanna see your new place! Oh, and paint a random wall in it, too. *giggle*

mikey_dreamer, where the hell are you? I haven't seen you online in too long! *misses you a little*

*ponder* No message from Seb today. I was warned that he was a busy man, but still, I'm a little disappointed.
EDIT: Did get a message from Seb, asking to meet me at the Rock Star on Friday. I'll have to shift some stuff around for that... I'm still not too sure about this guy though. He seems nice enough, but something's off. I keep having Niki-flashbacks for some reason. Bugger.

friends, shopping, books
